This doesn’t sound like the kind of thing your kid brings home from daycare.

I wonder if he's battling COVID again.
I’m sure one of the first things they did when he showed up for camp feeling sick was test him for it. If he had COVID he wouldn’t have been out there practicing Wednesday and risking spreading it throughout the team.

I don't think it's covid. They would have announced that and removed the mystery and he would not be taking more tests searching for what is wrong. That in itself sounds more serious than just a virus or a cold.

I have been sick for an entire week with the flu, but not recently. And it is easily diagnosed. The part about taking further tests is what is scary. That would seem to indicate all of the obvious things have been ruled out.

Or maybe just that team's on-site doctors don't do those type of tests so they sent him to an actual lab after he didn't get better with fluids and rest. Could still be a somewhat simple explanation.

Like Mackus said, probably was put on various electrolytes for dehydration (could have been experiencing intestinal issues) and sent him home to rest. When he continued to not get any better, that's when the team sent him out for tests. I'm sure one of them will be for COVID. It could very well be Influenza and you're not getting over that in a few days, that's for sure. Not much they can do for it other than tell you to rest and ride it out. I had the flu in the Spring of 2016 and it was 3 weeks before I started to feel normal again.

The flu can certainly put you out for a week easy but I thought they can usually test for that really easy on site. So the weird part is that they don't seem to be sure what it is. Of course the team is never forthcoming about this kind of thing so that could have something to do with it too.

My son has brought home Covid twice, a 2 day stomach bug, the flu and hand foot and mouth from his daycare. Any enclosed space with a large amount of small children is a breeding ground for super-bugs.
Not saying that is how he got whatever he's got. But small children in their first 2 years of daycare are walking super-virus carriers who don't know how to wash their hands or cover their mouths yet.

I don’t get sick often but one time I had a bad fever for almost a week. Was very close to going to the hospital. Still don’t know what I had.I don't think I've ever been sick for 5 days but I've got a lot more body fat than Lamar. Hope it comes back as just an illness and not anything scary. Couldn't care less about him being available for camp, so just get healthy in time to prep for the regular season.
I also have a strong dislike of going to the doctor/hospital…
There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

It was good to see Lamar back out on the field yesterday and I'm glad this didn't happen during the season. Visions of Josh Johnson playing quarterback is enough to keep the most indifferent fan up at night.
