I don't know why an OC would wait until week 7 to suddenly be creative but I guess better late than never.

Also, it's a whole new offensive system. You have to start with the basics of the playbook first. If the offense can't run the bread and butter basics of a system effectively, they can't build off of them and get more creative. Even professionals take a little bit to get acclimated and comfortable with the language, blocking schemes and route concepts.
Once you get the foundation set pretty solid, then you can start to build off of that, run misdirection and counter plays off of your base playcalls. I think we saw that last Sunday. Monken caught Detroit overplaying some things they saw on film, and he took advantage.
If this team can continue to play clean football for all 4 quarters, they're going to be a hard team to beat.
