Im not sure why there was any doubt about this before this weekend. Ive been as critical of this teams inconsistency as anyone but Ive always thought their A/B game was one the best in the league

Believing they can and having seen them do it are different levels.

I thought the Browns game was really efficient and good though you could argue they didnt play a good QB. Goff was really bad yesterday too though.

Pretty good day by DVOA

Aaron Schatz
@ASchatzNFL
Baltimore had 126.8% DVOA for yesterday's win over Detroit.
That's now the best single game for this season and the No. 14 best single game ever since 1981. #RavensFlock

Moved up to #2 overall behind SF. SF is probably not going to drop below us no matter what happens tonight. But maybe??

There was a group of people from Detroit tailgating next to us. They left Michigan at midnight. Drove straight to Baltimore. Tailgated. Saw their team lose 38-6. Drove back to Michigan after the game.

Don’t envy them.

Brutal. I drove out to South Bend for the ND-USC game last weekend and it thankfully was a great time. The USC fans had more of a Lions experience though, and far more devastating of a loss for their season.

But anyway, I think part of the discussion about a difference in playcalling comes from the early down calls that kept them ahead of the chains. The RPO stuff was very cool, especially early in the game where it was basically some triple option run/run/pass. The Eagles ran some similar looking plays with Hurts over the past couple seasons and you're just putting defenders in an impossible position with Lamar on the edge one on one with an option to throw. Great discipline by the o-line on those plays too.

The line played well, but man that was just a legendary Lamar game. What he did to buy time and keep his eyes downfield on some of the plays where he did get pressured was special.

And I hate to say it, but I think it's gonna be tough to keep Mike Macdonald from a HC opportunity in the very near future.

I think the difference is that the Browns started a really unprepared rookie QB that was just overwhelmed on that stage.  Probably why they went to Walker after that game when Watson couldn't go.  Goff is not an elite QB by any means, but he has still been good enough to be an asset to the Detroit offense.   The Ravens defense made him look that bad on Sunday.

Goff is Goff. If you give him time, and let him hit some throws early, he can pick you apart. But if you consistently get to him early, he starts panicking and sailing throws.

I'm still impressed with the Ravens ability to generate consistent pressure every week so far. Credit to Macdonald. Detroit offensive line is a juggernaut. And the defense came in and continued to get consistent pressure against a top unit.

I don't know why an OC would wait until week 7 to suddenly be creative but I guess better late than never.

Pretty much what Mike said.

Also, it's a whole new offensive system. You have to start with the basics of the playbook first. If the offense can't run the bread and butter basics of a system effectively, they can't build off of them and get more creative. Even professionals take a little bit to get acclimated and comfortable with the language, blocking schemes and route concepts.

Once you get the foundation set pretty solid, then you can start to build off of that, run misdirection and counter plays off of your base playcalls. I think we saw that last Sunday. Monken caught Detroit overplaying some things they saw on film, and he took advantage.

If this team can continue to play clean football for all 4 quarters, they're going to be a hard team to beat.
