Could increase his trade value if they want to go that way as well.

Meh. Its a 7.5 mil option for whats likely going to be a platoon bat. So I dont think the arb-2 or arb-3 factors in a all. Everyone still saying he was Arb3. Option prob wont be picked up but there is no buyout so good on the Os for getting a no risk option on him for '25 should he hit really well this year

 

Confirmed this is Arb 3 for O'Hearn.  He had 4.002 heading into last season (I used the Wayback machine to check BB-ref before last year) and he gets credit for a full year of service in 2023 because he was optioned for less than 20 days total.

I must be missing something. Why would a player give away his FA year for a club option with no guaranteed money at all?

Realistic about his possible FA chances? Second thoughts about his arb figure, so take what you can get now? Don’t know.

Probably just overvalued a little bit but allows them to avoid arbitration despite file and trial.
