We can and should extend Holliday.

You can't force him to sign. They've also just handed Holliday (Boras) negotiating leverage in any extension talks. He's now due to be a FA after 2029 instead of possibly after 2030.

I wouldn't even think about handing out long term extensions until a player has at least one year under his belt and has produced significantly.  Maybe two years.  There's been a ton of "can't miss" prospects down through the ages that completely flamed out.  I don't think Holliday or Henderson will be one of those players but you never know.

And whos being recalled in their place because now Urias,Mateo, Hays, etc are either traded or DFaAd. Nice way to lose the depth you built up in one big swoop. Look, I get that Urias, Mateo, Hays arent the best regs to watch. They are good to great bench guys whove proven to be MLB caliber players. How is Holliday's start up here and the struggles that Cowser had up here last year and the struggles that Stowers has had up here not showing the foolishness of trying to establish 4 or 5 guys in MLB all at once. If it was 2020 then bring it on. Let em all learn and break in together. It cant be in a year with such high stakes

They are going to stick this out with him for awhile. It would take 3 or 4 weeks of not just bad numbers but seeing no signs of progression for him to be sent back. Kinda like Cowser

They stuck with Henderson last year when he was struggling mightily and eventually began to adjust and settle in.  I'm sure they'll do the same with Holliday.

"Send Jackson down now" is a lot tamer take than many of the Henderson takes last May. Wish it didn't have to be for 3 weeks, but I'd prefer he be sent down, too, though that is for service reasons and not performance. I think he's ready.

I dont know how you felt about service time manipulation a week ago so this isnt necessarily directed at you. Gonna be funny how much we see this from the same people crying about him not being up. It will take like 1 more week of him being poor for some of the same people to say send him back
