Want to know how bad CWS are? The O's are 72% favorites to win today with Povich starting.

We scored 13 yesterday,  will be lucky if we plate 3 today.

maybe not interesting side fact.....Nick Maton was part of the trade/return that sent Soto from DET to PHI.

It is interesting to me.

Soto has been involved in a lot of transaction.

Roch said Coulombe faced hitters today for the first time. That’s promising, maybe he’ll be back by end of the month after all.

Kremer was throwing today in the OF, that’s also promising.

Just read an article in Just Baseball on the latest odds for teams to win the WS. I think the O's were 4th in line. But here was the key sentence. Just irritates me no end to be reminded of what we all know.

"But general manager Mike Elias may not have added enough pitching to take advantage of a shot to win it all this year."

Agree we needed better pitching but that's not currently the limiting factor. If the guys who were here before July don't collective play more like they did in the Spring than in the Summer, then adding Skubal and Scott wouldn't be enough to drag us up. I'm optimistic those guys play better, so do expect to remain bummed about the deadline, Rogers and the BP moves in particular.

Agree but these kinds of things always have more to the story. How much of an impact would have adding say Skubal and Scott impacted the play of the team? Doesn't matter than they are pitchers. Can't just say well they wouldn't make us hit better or play better defense. Sports don't work that way. Whose to say that some of why they haven't really gelled since the ASB is the floundering of the FO? Maybe the players too felt we were in a position to really bolster this roster for a post season run and were deflated by the moves the FO made or didn't make? We know players get hot or cold all the time for a whole host of reasons. And lack of leadership can certainly have an affect.

I think both things have to happen if we're going to win the World Series. That means get healthy and play better. I hope this stretch of lesser teams helps them gain some confidence and get out of that 2 month long funk. It's like seeing the ball go in the hoop after a shooting slump.

No one can say one way or the other. Eflin gave this team a shot in the arm. I don’t recall that breaking anyone out of slump. One thing is for sure, if this team gets hot and makes a run, the GM, manager, and coaches aren’t likely to get any credit for that.

Exactly. And I wish people would stop acting as if a deal for Tarik Skubal was there for the making and Elias balked at making it. They may have fielded some calls, but that's a long way from actually entering into serious trade talks. The Tigers themselves stated after the deadline that they never came close to trading him. Probably the only reason Skubal's name came up at all was due to the Tigers barely being on the fringes of contention.

Johnson getting called up for Philly.

I still have a very negative opinion on the Soto trade, but he has actually pitched really well since his 2nd 4-run meltdown in his first 3 games (man that's bad).  8 runs in the first 3 appearances and only recorded 4 outs.  But since then, nearly a month, he hasn't allowed a run.  10 appearances, 9.1 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 11 K.  Also 2 HBP.  That's mostly been very low leverage innings, since they don't trust him, and they haven't brought him in to try and escape any jams, just starting innings fresh.  But can't knock the results.  8 runs in 10.2 IP is awful, of course, but maybe there is something different about the last 10 than the first 3.  Think it'll take a couple more weeks of good pitching to earn back everyone's trust.

Congrats to those that are good without it, but beer and baseball is about as classic as an American combo as you can find (throw hotdogs in there too). I love having a couple beers and some peanuts while at the Yard. While it sucks to pay $12 for a 16oz Steady Eddie, I could live with it after the discount. Paying $16 really sucks and yes I know that's what the non members pay.

This discount was one of the best perks of being a member imo, but hey, the billionaire needs to make more money so all good.

I decided not to renew my plan (13 games). that I've had for over a decade.

But at least the new owner dances on the dugout, sits in the splash zone, and has the TV crew throw crab chips from the booth.

Lol yep!

Hopefully he spends a lot on the team, otherwise it's just more extreme greed.

That's a shame. Not a snowball's chance in hell I would have spent a dime on tickets once it was obvious Johnny boy was just cost cutting everywhere he could with no care about ever winning. Much less keep a ticket plan of ANY amount.

Fans like you kept giving money to John's Nashville retirement fund, and now that they are finally a good team, you're inflation priced out.

Something very wrong with that whole situation.

That said, I'll be shocked if the new ownership group doesn't put them back in to middle to top-middle third payroll slot.

Pretty sure I beyotched about it before, but I went to a weekend game earlier this year where the park was packed and it was a very frustrating experience. Parking, lot attendants, concession lines, the price of a friggin soda. Left that game with the mindset I'll be back for weeknight games against non marquee teams, and make sure to bring my own drinks in. I can mentally handle the overpriced food, but like $9 for a soda... nah son...

We renewed ours — mostly because we live further apart and are busy so it’s good to have the games locked into our calendars.

But totally get why you wouldn’t renew. They’re showing zero interest in appreciating the loyal plan holders.

Maybe it’s Angelos acid flashbacks but I am totally wary of this new owner.

I think there’s a good chance he may suck. The new plan holder discount changes are a bad omen

It’s been posted here by someone. But the Os — only behind DC — have the most expensive beer in MLB

I get cost of living is high in this area, but no excuse to be behind NY, Boston, Chicago, west cost Cali etc

Greed

Yeah, if you can't even cut the loyal season ticket holders a break on already overpriced beer, something even the previous ownership did, it's a bad look.

Would think the hideous T Rowe Price patch would cover the beer discount.
