I didn't mean arguing in a bad way, discussing. I think we're on the same page.

You're right, it wasn't heated at all.

It just took us awhile.

Generalization.

Yes, we are speaking generally. And about how those generalities give us confidence that Mayo can do it specifically.

James Paxton was DFA'd and likely headed for a release soon.  He hasn't been good this year, a 4.43 ERA and uglier peripherals.  If this was a month ago I'd be intrigued as a stopgap, but at this point think I'm just trading for two SP and not trying any reclamation projects.

Man that was an exhausting argument about playing 1st base. I'm so tired of reading that I can't even say who won.

In all seriousness I can't wait until these next 8 days are over. There have been a million questions and a million answers for quite some time now. Having an abundance of riches is great but it makes decisions that much tougher. I just hope we go all in and try to win it all this year. I won't have any regrets because I believe when you're this close you should push all of your chips to the middle of the table and live with the outcome.

. DOdgers giving up on him prob telling. But if the FO likes the profile yu could give it a shot. Wonder if he could pitch out of the pen.

Eh. There was still a decent bit to like about him from savant last year, but he's totally nose dived this year. If LAD are giving up on him I wouldn't have much interest.

Maybe his stuff does play up a bit in the pen, though. Still taking Akin and maybe Perez over him.

Paxton is likely better than Cade Povich and Irvin.
That's not saying much, but if you wanted to plug him in for a start or two he wouldn't cost much and Irvin has an option.

I doubt the Orioles go this route and it's probably better that they look elsewhere.

Great. Lets bring up Holliday and Mayo and run them out there as the right side of the infield. Problem is that Mountcastle and Urias/Mateo are not brining in the SP we need. Maybe they get you a back end starter or a decent RP.

On my way home from fishing yesterday listening to MLB radio. Sounds like the Tigers are going to want Mayo or Holliday plus at least one more top 15 of O's minor leagues. Skubal went 7 innings on 97 pitches. He did give up 10 hits but scattered 2 doubles and 8 singles to allow just one run. Get this done.

Mayo or Holliday plus any prospect in our top 15? That’s it?

That's what they were saying on the Loud Outs show (Ryan Spilborghs and CJ Nitkowski). Now they didn't say who they thought it would be beyond Mayo or Holliday but their discussion was it wasn't going to be two players in the top 5. They also both said that the O's should be able to beat any offer the Dodgers could make and that adding Skubal was THE move the O's needed to do to put them in the front row for October.

Just trying to read the tea leaves sounded like a Mayo, Stowers, Urias would get it done.

Mark Derosa on MLB just said he thinks a trade would go like this.

Skubal for Basallo, Krerstad, and Norby.

I think I'd do that trade.  It's a huge package, but Skubal is very valuable and we get to keep Holliday and Mayo.

Do that. Then trade Mountcastle/Stowers type package for Fedde or high lev RP.

The White Sox don’t want players like Mountcastle.

I'd try to get Foley included with Skubal if we're giving up two top-25 prospects and a third top-100 guy.

Too much to give up, IMO, but it makes sense in that’s probably close to what it takes.

I'm not trading Basallo and Kjerstad for Skubal. It shouldn't take two top 25 guys to get 2.5 years of a guy who has never pitched a full season.

One of those guys headlining that package is more reasonable.

Yeah I wish Det had a better RP option to add in but Foley may have to do

Orioles right-handed pitching prospect Chayce McDermott is in Miami as part of the taxi squad

The Orioles are rolling with a four-man rotation at this moment, with Albert Suárez tonight and two days of TBD to follow. Remains to be seen whether McDermott factors into one of those TBD slots

Yep, that trade would sting. But assuming Burnes walks this winter, you know you still have 2 quality starting pitchers for '25.
