I think he’s fine as a defensive CFer for the next few years. I think he’s excellent as a LFer. I’m not sure if he’s a MLB hitter and defense only goes so far. If he’s a trade centerpiece I’m good with that.

I’m still high on Cowser’s bat and he’s definitely a CF for at least the next few years. He’s 24, he’s going to continue to improve.

Cowser's range in CF is definitely legit. Arm is strong, but not very accurate from what I've seen. Would rather him hit and be in LF every day, but no issues with him in CF.

We’re trying to win here. Dems the breaks. He seems to be moving in the wrong direction.

No issues reducing his role or demoting him this season, you're right that we're trying to win. Or trading him in the right deal. Still think if he's not traded he should be penciled in for a role next year.

He doesn't have to necessarily play right now.

I think he settles in as a .750 to .800 ops guy.. typically 2 to 3.5 war, probably makes a couple All Star teams.

A very nice player while under team control.

I'm not against moving him in the right deal, but his ability to play CF on this team absolutely factors in any decision to move him now.

Hope you’re right. He’d have to start improving in the first place to continue said hypothetical improvement. I’m not giving up on him either to be clear, but I’m not bullish on him. There are some legit red flags. Also some encouraging signs, and obviously the sample size to go along with the O’s player development track record. It doesn’t feel as hopeless as it used to around these parts when a big prospect got off to an uneven start.

Never say never. He could flip a switch but his flaws seem pretty set to me. There isn't a ton of upside. The BB rate has potential but its always going to be accompanied with a low BA. If the guy hits north of .250 outside of an outlier year it wold be surprising

Cowser could be headed towards a platoon role if he can’t figure it out soon. His under the hood numbers are fairly concerning against LHP. This is another reason he me of Kelenic. He’s still young, so maybe he will figure it out though. I’d be tempted to move him if the coaches don’t feel confident that he will. His value hasn’t dipped yet I’d think.

I agree.

The fact that Cowser bounced back so well after a terrible 2022 debut also bodes well. That's a tribute to his determination and work ethic.

I saw a clip of Holliday hitting a leadoff homer in Norfolk. It looks like the leg kick is now less pronounced.

The Orioles and SuperBook Sports, which announced today it is no longer accepting bets in Maryland, agreed to a long-term partnership in 2022.

SuperBook Sports has a restaurant on Eutaw Street and signage on the CF scoreboard and next to the out-of-town scoreboard in RF.

He wound up hitting a pair of homeruns and has 5 hits in his last two games.  Hopefully, he's starting to heat up again.  I see where McDermott only pitched one inning.  I wonder if he's having arm issues.

Warming up to the idea of Mayo and Holliday both coming up together and forming a new right side of the infield. Mountcastle's been slumping and it'd allow Westburg to stay at 3B.

Could dangle both Urias and Mountcastle in trade for pitching.

Not sure what sort of value Mountcastle has. The sample size is big enough to inform other teams what he is

The problem is he is a 1b/DH who has an OPS under .700 against RHP right now. And he is entering Arb-2 next year. Teams have to feel like they can rather easily match or fill 90% of his production. But you def dangle him. Maybe a non contender this year who is looking to contend next year would move a solid RP arm for him

He's a real 1B and still kinda cheap for next two years. Don't think he is the main piece for a major asset, but do think he could be intriguing piece for teams that are dealing now but not entering a major rebuild. I think he can help us get a good RP or middle tier SP. Tampa, Toronto, Detroit, Washington all might make sense.

But I do feel like his time is coming. I think Mayo is likely the future 1b and he has proven himself at AAA. As it stands today, Ill be surprised if Mounty is on the Os OD roster next year.

From the O's standpoint dangling Urias and Mountcastle for pitching is great for them, but what team is going to take that knowing what the farm system has and that the Orioles are one of the top 4 teams that can win a WS this year?  Any pitching you get for those two will be no better than what they already have.

To get a difference maker it will take parting with a top prospect or possibly a couple of top prospects.

For July Jackson is slashing .333/.482/.689. That's some good hitting right there.

Mmmmm. . .maybe. Mayo has four errors in just 14 starts at first this year, while he has 10 at third in 53 starts. No way I move Westburg off third for him at this point, and I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with him over Mountcastle at first. While I'd love to see his bat up here, defense matters, particularly for a team that needs both starting pitching and bullpen help. We can't afford to give away extra outs.
