I believe he had the same issue as Bradish last year. Oakland shut him down then decided to move him to relief.

I figured they'd at least give him the weekend to try and show some life, especially since his poor play hasn't really hurt the team.

Good decision imo.

Surprised they did it today and not Wednesday. Two more days they have to keep him down, though I'd guess they aren't expecting it to be an exactly 20 day demotion and more like month plus.

Yeah, maybe they just wanted more time to evaluate, but doing it earlier would have made more sense.

Was getting tired of the pods/ videos that were trying to put lipstick on his performance so far. Seemingly everyone was afraid to say send him back down this quickly. Im sure some goofs on twitter were already calling him a bust and wanted him gone but Im talking the more professional type pods and talkshows.
Anyway, hard reset time. Let him spend at least a few months down there and lets see if he can make some mechanical and approach changes that may give him a chance to contribute in Aug-Sept

One thing about this - it can't be spun that they're trying to manipulate service time. He deserved this demotion and everyone, including him, knows it.
Time to get humble and work hard.

Some can make the jump quickly and some can't. There's no exact science to this. We can listen to the "I told you so" crowd but the fact is you never know until you give it a try. His demotion came a little quicker than I thought but it's one thing to be bad but he also looked bad at the the same time. I don't think we'll see him back up here for a couple of months.
