It's exactly the same situation in the most likely case. Glasnow had something to accomplish today and could've pitched more. But once it was looking very promising, they decided to take advantage of that, get him out and keep his workload light ahead of his planned postseason start. Also could still use him Sunday if needed on three days rest, but that's more of a break-in-case-of-emergency contingency.
Bradish pitched 8 innings and threw 104 pitches. He could pitch Sunday if they wanted to keep him on his normal rotation.
Glasnow pithed 5 innings and only 70 pitches. His next expected start is Tuesday and full extra day of rest over routine. He could have thrown a complete game tonight and been fully rested come Tuesday. Was there any reason to keep him in there? Sure no there wasnt. But I'd bet a fair bit that he was pulled that early specifically to be able to go Sunday if they got their miracle.
Pitching another inning ro 2 and another 20 pitches wouldn't make a hill of beans difference in how tired or rested he's going to be come Tuesday. But it could make a huge difference if they needed him Sunday.
We'll just disagree on this one.
