Great writeup. Lots of discussion could be had around who should be 2-5 and the honorable mentions but I don't think there is much of a discussion about who should be #1. Gunnar is just a monster!

Don't think this is a hot take but as long as Adley is a top five catcher in the league, he's a top 5 most valuable Oriole regardless of if he's top 5 in the team for WAR or whatever just because of the positional value

When we get roboumps in the bigs, it will be interesting to see what that does to Adley's value.

He's still 85th percentile in blocks. He was 100 last year but I'm confident he's good. I'm not sure how many runs that means but it's something.
He's also 81st %tile in pop time, 56 in CS. Last year 79 and 85. So that's something, still better than average in stopping steals. I'll guess he's above average as a C still, even without framing (which savant has him at 79 percentile, and isn't changing next year at least).

I know you're talking about defensive value, but wasn't there something on here recently and/or a broadcast about how Adley has been more screwed by bad calls as a batter than pretty much everyone else?

Maybe O'Hearn should be in the honorable mention group. He's been stellar.
Yep. Not quite Steve Pearce, but really started taking off when Mountcastle struggled and filled what could've been a very damaging hole.

For whatever it's worth, not much, I was:
Gunnar
Adley
Bradish
Felix
Santander
I think that's the top 5 for everyone.

But Jesus, O'Hearn somehow almost has to be there one of these days.

6-10: Hays, Mullins, Mounty, O’Hearn, Cano in some order?
Sounds reasonable, they've all been important.

Ill still debate Adley being #1. Like I feel like I can make a case. Bottom line is the drop off from him to his replacement should he go down is bigger than how they would cover Gunnar. He also is the captain. That said Ill respect the season Gunnar has had but I dont see a big difference in the two
Gunnar
Adley
Felix
Bradish
Then everyone else in some order but those 4 are the studs.
just to argue....well because its fun. But Gunnar leads in WAR 4.5 to 4.0 over Adley and defensively I think Gunnar is playing a more important position. What Adley is good at so are a number of catchers. In the end its a GREAT debate to have.
