Had a nice at-bat, though. Laid off a couple of those sliders just off the outside part of the plate. He wasn't going to get a fastball in that situation, not with first base open.

Just saw this posted elsewhere, but we had a guy (Felix) making the major-league minimum, facing three guys making a combined $79 million this season. (Tatis, Jr., Soto and Manny.)

 

Kind of reminds me of the story of Emlen Tunnell, the Hall of Fame DB for the Giants back in the 1950s. One day against the Rams, he got beat on a TD pass from Hall of Fame QB Norm Van Brocklin to Hall of Fame wide receiver Elroy (Crazy Legs) Hirsch. When asked what happened, he said, "The Rams are paying Van Brocklin, what, $25 grand or so this season? And they're paying Hirsch $15 thousand. The Giants are paying me eight thousand. How in the hell is an eight-thousand dollar defensive back supposed to stop a $40 thousand-dollar forward pass?"
