At least Cano and Bautista are available. I need 6+ from Wells today because I want no part of Perez or Gillaspie in this game.

 

Which kind of leads to the elephant in the room.....how far down the road do we continue to go with players that are flat out not performing? Mateo starts every at bat down 0-2 and is essentially an automatic out......AND....we have plenty of possibilities to play short. Then, there's Cionel Perez. It's become apparent that last year was the anomaly. His WHIP is 2, his WAR is -0.6. We'd be better off with a cardboard cutout of Cionel Perez, as opposed to the real one. I don't want to hear about what hand he throws with either. As I said yesterday, I don't care if a reliever shoots the ball out of his backside, I just need a couple more guys who can get outs and not friggin walk guys.

 

Going back to Mateo, I'm not saying release him but he needs to sit for a little while. You can use him as a pinch runner or a late defensive replacement but he could use a reset. Running him out there night after night is not working and his defense isn't enough to carry his atrocious performance at the plate over the last month and a half.

I’ll take a split at this crap hole. Still 7 innings, and Bradley isn’t far removed from getting totally fleeced regularly. His swing and miss/whiff profile has greatly improved his last couple times out, but he isn’t a guy they automatically can’t get to. I wanna see them battle today.
