The Maple Mamba going to his home country while the Knicks are getting a much better fit to try to contend, although they're clearly not in the highest tier in the East even after this.
RJ has been a disappointment (well not so much to me because I felt like what we've seen was likely his destiny), but I like Quickley for what he is and Barrett still has some upside.

Given all the draft capital at the Knicks' disposal, surprised Toronto couldn't get better than a 2nd Rd pick with the deal. Maybe the Knicks didn't have the assurances/confidence they wanted that they could re-sign Anunoby in the summer. He was a Trail Blazers target when they were still of the mindset of rebuilding around Lillard, and word was Toronto wanted multiple 1sts for him. Sounds like the Raptors held on to him too long.

It's too bad the Spurs suck, because Giannis vs Vic is the Finals matchup we need.

Shorter and paler slender man vs Giannis is realistic much sooner though.

Will be interesting to see if the 65-game rule has that meaningful an impact.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

NBA Trade Season unofficially opened on Monday, and a big one was just finalized. Pascal Siakam goes from Toronto to Indiana in exchange for Bruce Brown, Jordan Nwora and three 1st Round picks. That's a pretty steep price for a guy who could end up being just a rental, since Siakam is a UFA after the season.
Update: Apparently to create the salary match the Pacers needed to pull the trade off they first acquired Kira Lewis Jr and a 2nd Rd pick from New Orleans in exchange for everyone's favorite player, Cash Considerations. Lewis was then part of the package that went to Toronto, but the Pacers keep the 2nd. I guess the Pelicans felt the cap space they got in the deal was enough to part with a player and a 2nd.

Tonight's game between Golden State and Utah has been postponed after Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic died this morning. He was having dinner in a restaurant last night in SLC when he had to be rushed to the hospital with a medical emergency. He was 46.
Update: Milojevic suffered a heart attack.

We could see NBA history tonight. Joel Embiid scored 70 points tonight against San Antonio, and became the first player in history to reach that mark with under 39 minutes played (37). Meanwhile Karl Anthony Towns has 58 as the Wolves and Hornets start the 4th Qtr. If he makes it, it would obviously be the first time in NBA history two players reached 70 the same night.
It would be only the second time two different players did it in the same season....Donovan Mitchell and Damian Lillard both did it last season. Wilt Chamberlain did it three times in the '61-'62 season (including his 100pt game) and then three more times in the '62-'63 season.
UPDATE: KAT comes up short with just 62. He had a chance to send the game to OT with a three at the buzzer and give himself an extra 5 minutes, but missed.

While we didn't get history tonight, we did get a rarity.
Today is the 1st day with multiple 60-point games since April 9, 1978:David Thompson had 73 pointsGeorge Gervin had 63 pointsThere have never been multiple 65-point games on a single day in NBA history
