They dont want to give it to Jokic anymore. If the Mavs would just win some damn games they would give it to him.
You may be right on the first part, but I think we might see a correction based on last year's voting and then postseason results.
Shai has both the stats and team success going for him after Jokic, but not as much name recognition or attention on his team.

Per Shams Charania, the NBA will be shutting down its G-League Ignite team.
https://theathletic....-shut-down-nba/
While somewhat successful in the past, with the rise of NIL in college basketball the Ignite may no longer be the attraction it was as a pre-draft eligible place for players to get post-HS experience while also earning money. While the Ignite currently feature at least two players who project as lottery picks in this year's draft (Ron Holland and Matas Buzelis), the team is just 6-40.

Last night the Blazers countered a short-handed Nuggets team, without Jokic and Murray, with a starting lineup of 5 rookies. Unsurprisingly Portland lost (or won, depending on your perspective). But it was only the 2nd time on record that an NBA team started 5 rookie players (NBA box scores did not track who started prior to the 1970-71 season). The other time was Golden State in 2012.

NBA Stat of the Night:
The Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics combined for just two free throw attempts in an entire game (a 104-91 Bucks win), a new record low. Giannis shot both attempts, which means the Celtics also became the first team in league history to not attempt a single FT in a game (several teams have attempted just 1). The previous record low combined FT attempts for a game was 11, so that record was shattered tonight.
Also noteworthy is Giannis later had to be helped off the court with a calf injury. He didn't return to the game and will undergo an MRI.
