Blazerdom is abuzz this morning over Chauncy Billups and Kyle Lowry being shown sitting together at the Colorado-Colorado State game last night. Billups is a CU alum, but Lowry has no known connection to either school.

 

Perhaps the framework of a Heat-Blazers deal for Lillard is close enough that the Heat have given Portland permission to talk with Lowry, presuming he'd be returning to Portland with his $30M expiring salary, about his role on the team and/or intent to move him to a contender at the tread deadline. Funny was that the second time they showed them sitting in the box together Billups attempted to exit the shot frame pretty quickly.

• Milwaukee receives: Damian Lillard
• Portland receives: Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, 2029 first-round Bucks pick (unprotected) and Bucks pick swaps in 2028 and 2030 (also unprotected)
• Phoenix receives: Jusuf Nurkić, Nassir Little, Keon Johnson and Grayson Allen

My grades:

 

Bucks A- The Lillard-Giannis pick-and-roll combo sounds lethal. And if this keeps Giannis in a Bucks uniform after the season, it's an unquestioned winner.

 

Blazers C+ (though could change): Woj says Portland is now trying to find a separate trade for Holiday. Their overall grade improving is contingent on getting some sort of useful asset(s) in return. Would be funny if they ship him to Miami for a similar return as what the Heat were offering for Lillard (the Heat make as much sense as a fit for Holiday as they did for Lillard).

 

Suns C- Phoenix seems to come out the loser here. Allen adds nice depth at G, but Nurkic and Little are way too injury prone to be counted on....Suns have to keep their fingers crossed those two buck the trend. Keon Johnson was already a candidate to be released on a rebuilding team like Portland, so doubt he'll have any role on the Suns (if he even sticks).

• Blazers Receive: Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams, 2024 Golden State 1st (Top-4 protected), Unprotected 2029 1st

 

Blazers getting another young big in Willams raises my grade for the Lillard trade to B+. Woj says they'll probably move Brogdon now (Clippers?), but are in no hurry.

 

Boston's defense is gonna be scary good.
