So the O's got the news their boy Cedric Mullins is going to be down for 1-2 months.
They're up 7-0 in the 2nd inning.
You sorta wanna see that type of thing.

I get that's it's a triple, but it's only because Brennan choked against the wall.

I read it’s voth?
Weird option. I could see if it's an emergency spot start type situation but clearly gonna need a 5th starter for a little while. Figured they'd recall Irvin.

Irvin won’t have been down for the minimum 15 days since he was optioned. Maybe next time through the rotation.

While I agree that I don't want to see him getting at bats against LH pitchers just how is he supposed to improve if he doesn't get those at bats?
You just platoon him the rest of the year like Cedric in 2022, fall short of the playoffs when the bats go “cold” (or you over think things). Next year, somehow, like magic, he can hit lefties again. As if, he could maybe, do it all along, because he’s a professional ball player and a damn good one.
Or you never give him the chance and point to a number that sits frozen as a reminder that he can’t ever get better.

Wouldn't have mattered if they recalled him today to replace Mullins, rather than have Hicks rostered and unavailable anyways. That might give them too many pitchers though, haven't counted.
