Johnson is probably our best SP prospect. He's young in experience, but not super young in age.

When he's ready he should be unleashed.

We'll see.  If that's true, cool, although that shouldn't be a great thing.

The article itself is actually fair.  We got him headed into TJS.  He pitched his first post-TJS innings last August.  He logged 10+ game innings.

How about we just let him pitch at AAA this year and build up his strength and endurance and put absolutely zero expectations on any role for the 2024 Orioles.

Pitch his way onto the OD roster?  Why?  WTH.

He could pitch his way to the ML bullpen at some point this year but OD is asinine.

Agreed, but even the end of this year should be heavily cautioned because he's going to be limited to ~100 innings this year.

So do we really want him in a September bullpen, in a high pressure situation, going max effort at the end of his first season back from TJS-season?  Why would that ever be the option we promote.

Because he could be managed well and deserve it. He’s already on the 40 man, this is his second option year. If you need an arm and he’s deemed ready it could definitely happen.

Because we are trying to win a WS. If he puts himself in a position where his stuff is really nasty and effective against ML hitters of course he should be here. I dont expect that but its possible.

Its all be fair to Norby. Be fair to Stowers, whos done nothing so far in MLB so far. They are human. There is a human element. Trade them. Etc etc. But when it comes to Holliday  we all like what could  he possibly prove in ST.  You out   here promoting holding him back on purpose no matter how he performs.  For like the next 4 months. Whether he has a great spring or has 3 months of great play in AAA you still want him held down. Wheres the human element there. You make no damn sense. Ever.

Nothing you just said is correct, because you seem to have no capacity for context.

You not understanding what I write isn't a reflection on me.

Seth Johnson is coming back from Tommy John.  His season should simply be about getting the work in....regardless of his stuff, we shouldn't be pushing him at the end of this year.  Next year, with a full healthy season, the conditions/expectations should be different.

Again, if you can't figure that out...that's not on me.

If hes earned the position of being in late season, high lev spots he should be getting innings. Of course they are going to monitor him the whole way. If they feel he needs to be shut down he will be shut down. Im not expecting Johnson to be in the mix but hes an older guy. Hes already on the 26 man roster. He will be 2 whole years out from his surgery in August. There is no reason to be saying in Feb that he shouldnt be in the mix in Sept when there is so much left to play out between now and then.

Why dont you take a trip down to Florida and see the work done there right now. Maybe you'll figure out what the team is learning by seeing Holliday in big league camp every day.

You can't be this dumb.  He pitched 10 COMPETITIVE NNINGS LAST YEAR.  My position is only (only) related to recovery from surgery.  He should be in a routine.  If you love the arm then minimize the risk.  Manage his innings, let him complete a healthy season.  If he has an innings limit (and he absolutely should) then how do you get to SEP without hitting that limit?  If he has capacity left for this season (purely rehab limitations) then what the hell is he doing all season at AAA?

If the Orioles needed a spot start in June and it was his turn and you want to let him get his feet wet before he gets shut down for the season, cool.....but "making the OD roster" is stupid.  The article (as I already said) is fine, but it's just a stupid title,

Whatever they do is actually fine with me.  There seems to be a complete lack of understanding around here of roster rules, reasonable expectations (1SP) and consequences.

They arent going to be pushing him hard. They will stretch him out so he has bullets left in Sept if hes feeling good. Whether thats in Baltimore or Norfolk or hell even Bowie. You had a stupid Sept take in Feb. Of course he isnt making the team out of ST. Nobody argued otherwise. Why you bringing that up. Stop talking baseball
