Just brutal.

This is one you put a star next to and revisit if they miss it by a game.

Rays tied late with a bad team. Red Sox and Jays tied late. Mariners lost. Twins losing to the Astros.

And the O’s can’t figure out Giolito.

I turned the channel. Was it a legit hit by Sheets?

Ground ball in the hole. Mateo went for the Jeter jump throw to first rather than easy toss to third. Sheets beat it out.

Not really.  Infield hit.  Mateo may have had an easier play to 3rd.

Just can't walk the #9 hitter leading off an inning. So awful pitching.

He should have thrown to 3rd.

They will fight here. I still expect a win

He should have thrown to 3rd.

Yes, definitely. But in his defense that's not what you're thinking before that play happens. Pretty infrequent to see a 6-5 putout. He's also have to notice that both the runner got a bad jump and that Urias read it well and was back at third. If he looks to third and either of the above aren't true, then he has no chance to recover and go to 1st.

It's a mistake but an understandable one.

Did he have any shot of getting Sheets. THats the question. If you are that deep in the hole you might as well look up and see if Urias is back to 3b

Low odds. It was close but not very close and it took a strong throw to make it even that close.

I agree. In real time that's a tough read.

It was close.  He made a good try, Sheets beat it by a step.
