There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

How in the hell do the Lakers give a part-time player who can't even do back to back games $62 million a year?

Are the Lakers set to make a run after winning the In-Season tournament? Here are my thoughts on the 3 biggest things we've learned about LeBron James and the Lakers this season:https://baltimorespo...ampionship-run/

Replacing the Lakers’ incompetent head coach and paying a hefty price for a great one would represent an immediate upgrade for this team and maybe be enough to make a difference.
The Lakers obviously overachieved last year, but since they got bumped in the first round the coach is incompetent? This is the same team that was locked into the play-in most of the season and never gained ground no matter how well they played.

Hurley apparently informed his players this morning that he is in fact in discussions with the Lakers. Nice move on his part to not let the rumors fester and then just disappear.
If it happens, interesting that he’d join Jim Harbaugh in going to the pros fresh off winning a national championship.

Hurley would have to reinvent himself as a coach for him to have success in the NBA, cuz his drill sergeant approach isn't going to work with millionaires who get consulted on coaching hires, and actually form voting blocs to attempt to alter franchise direction.
Maybe he really thinks he'd succeed at it. Or, he's leveraging a Lakers offer to tear up his current contract with UConn.

Hurley has turned down the Lakers' 6-year, $70 million contract offer and will return to UConn.

Can't blame him for avoiding the Lakers.

Every wealthy UConn supporter must've drained their bank accounts this morning. Have to expect he'll get an extension, plus more money for assistants, and big NIL promises to go shopping with.

They really aren't THAT ideal of a landing spot right now are they? Like barring some miraculous retool, they are going to be full on rebuilding in the next couple years. They will probably go all in this year thinking they've got 1-2 years more of Lebron, IF he even stays there, and then have to blow up and start over.

The conspiracy theorists will say Hurley was never that serious about the job and just went there to interview to leverage a new deal from UConn. I don’t know how much I believe that, but I do believe that once he left LA Friday without taking the job it was likely he was staying at UConn. While 6yr/$70M is nothing to scoff at, it would not have put him among the Top 5 NBA coaches salary wise, so maybe the Lakers weren’t that serious themselves (though since Jerry Buss passed they have had a history of lowballing coaches).
Either way, Hurley will have another shot at the NBA if he wants it. I do chuckle at how when the story broke that he was the Lakers’ primary target and so many thought he’d go, they proclaimed it was another shining example of how college sports is broken beyond repair….yet those same people were silent yesterday.

Probably would have been fired before the rebuild was done too.

Sounds like the Redick hire is official. Lol…..at least this will make his and LeBron’s podcast a lot more spicy.
