Their ceiling was always a play-in team. If they stay reasonably healthy, I think that's where they will still end up. There's enough tankers/bad teams in the West that they can be 9th or 10th as long as they don't give up (and there's no reason to since NO gets to swap 1st Rd picks with them).
Once Schroder is ready to go, they need to give Russ the John Wall treatment and send him home. That late shot he took against the Blazers might rank among the all-time worst shots ever taken. Not because it was a brick (which of course, it was) but the timing of it defied any logic.

He's having another high quality year despite some regression, and you get that he doesn't care what the Lakers will look like 5 years from now... but the roster largely exists as is because of moves he's wanted made. LA shouldn't feel compelled to spend more draft capital. The funny thing is despite their bubble ring, the Lakers would be in far better shape had they not traded away the youth they had when he joined LA.
I guess he wouldn't accept a trade - or the teams he would accept would be very limited - but the Lakers should try and move him and Davis.
