He looks tall. Maybe he could rob HRs over the new wall.

MLB.com:

Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 55 | Run: 55 | Arm: 55 | Field: 50 | Overall: 50

The college ranks in northern California have a pair of toolsy, left-handed-hitting outfielders, both with considerable upside. One is Brock Jones from Stanford and the other is Beavers, who hit 18 homers and slugged .630 at Cal in 2021. A rough summer in the Cape Cod League and with USA Baseball last summer drew concerns, but the power was back on display this spring.

When Beavers is locked in, he’s the proverbial five-tool player. During the spring of 2021, he reminded some scouts of Christian Yelich as a left-handed hitter who makes good swing decisions and hard contact in the strike zone. But using a bit of an unorthodox setup with lower hand positioning, he does have some timing issues and there are some holes in his swing. He was tied up inside at times over the summer. He was streaky in the fall, though he did show some flashes of brilliance, especially getting to his easily plus raw power, something that continued this spring.

While he’s big at 6-foot-4, Beavers is an above-average runner who has the chance to stay in center field, though his near-plus arm would work just fine in right. He hasn’t received a ton of instruction in terms of making adjustments mechanically at the plate, but there will be teams willing to look past the hit risk and bank on helping him tap into all of his tools at the next level.

Don't know much about him. Sounds like someone who will need some swing adjustments.

Mlb.com has him listed as their number 22 ranked Prospect. I wonder what the contract details will be like.

Feels a little like the Gunner Henderson situation with a first round Talent sliding down given all of the craziness of the first round.

Feels (player comp) a little bit like what Stowers has become.

That would be nice. I like both picks so far. Love that he is viewed as a CF.

Law:

MLB Draft extra credit: Keith Law’s thoughts through the Dodgers’ first pick - The Athletic

Beavers is a strong power play for Baltimore with their second pick, a raw college hitter with the athleticism to be a plus defender in right field, but who has something of a hitch in his swing that might limit his ability to hit for average. He’s actually played centerfield and could go out there in pro ball, but given his size and frame, he’s more likely to end up in right. I thought the first round was a stretch for him with the hit tool questions – and he only hit .297 this spring, with a .427 on-base percentage and .634 slugging percentage – but for a second pick, he’s a great gamble.

I agree. He seems like more of a project than others. His swing isn't too far away from Chase Utley's if they shorten him to the ball a little. I wouldn't quite call it a hitch, but he does a weird drop of his hands that almost looks like a right-handed hitter switching over to lefty for a laugh.

Beavers swing does look funky, his hands seem low, but the tools are there.  Like some of the comps I heard on TV.  The Yelich one is interesting.

He’s a mix between Cowser and Stowers.
