I don't get to watch as much as I'd like, but from what I've seen it seems to me that instead of Cowser's results improving to match the quality contact he had been having in May nad June, his quality of contact has instead plummeted to match the bad results.

Does Savant have splits or gamelogs that track shorter periods of time for exit velocity, hard hit, and xBA and other things like that or just season long rankings?

I'm absolutely shocked he's still elite in hard hit % and barrel %. Basically everything is very, very good except whiff and k %. Just doesn't pass the eye test.

I feel the same, and also am unaware of savant having splits or the like. The savant page is still really good, which is a little surprising, but he's going to continue to lose time if other OFs hit. I love the defense, but I want to see Kjerstad's bat more.

He was often bad when he went up a level and then adjusted, so I thought he'd be fine. Not so sure anymore because it's just a long time to slump, and MLB is the ultimate adjustment. If someone wants him as the main piece for a starter I'm probably all over it. Defense still gives him a MLB bench floor probably, but at some point you need real results, not xResults.

July is essentially just 4 games for him, but those numbers are rough.

Send him down for awhile; see if he can recover. Move Mateo to center to platoon w/Mullins. Bring up Norby to play second or give Mayo a chance at third and move Westberg to second. That removes one chronic weak spot in the order, too.

Unfortunately, Mateo isn't an upgrade to Cowser or Mullins offensively, and they seem to have scraped the idea of him in CF against LHP.

He started in CF twice in April, came in as a sub in a blowout in April, also switched to CF as a defensive replacement once in May.

Despite the struggles Mullins and Cowser have had against LHP and Mateo's success, they haven't given him much run in CF.

I'm not saying Mateo's an upgrade over Cowser. But his RH bat is a bit better than Mullins. I'd also like to eliminate the weak offense at second base and, at same time, give Colton a chance to get his act together at Norfolk. And I'd like see Norby get to play some at second; he's earned it. A good showing increases his trade valu.

That's the logical move, but I don't know if it's going to pay dividends or not. The caliber of lefties Cowser will face down there are nothing compared to what he's seen in the Majors. There aren't a ton of lefties with electric stuff at either AAA or AA because they're quickly promoted to the big leagues.

Ive clearly been a Cowser critic. I said back in mid June to show me something that doesnt make me feel like April was a fluke. He came on to end June to put up a respectable enough .679 OPS. Batting Avg was still under .200 but he did enough to not completely ruin the month.  Very nice July .315/.378/.507. So hat tip to him for coming on the last 6 weeks or so. In particular, after the AS break. He can annoy the crap out of me with his slumps and some of the poor ABs he takes but you cant deny the overall numbers are there as we enter the last 2 months of the season. Really hope he stays fairly consistent. Obviously, the D in LF helps and is undeniable.

Cowser and Westburg being good productive ML's is a problem for the AL going forward.

Out at least a month. See ya in 2026.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

God dammit.  At least Gunnar is back soon and we've got OF depth.  Extends Kjerstad's opportunity as well.

Figure it'll be a Kjerstad/Laureano platoon replacing Cowser with O'Neill sliding over to LF when Kjerstad plays?

Why do guys still slide into first?

I could understand it, if it's a situation where you're trying to avoid the pitcher tagging you. But when it's a footrace?

But what do you expect from a player who strikes out on a HBP

I think it's the same reason some pitchers stick their bare pitching hand out to try and field comebackers bouncing past them. Just an instinctual reaction more than a strategy.
