Locksley just sent up the bat-signal for the team’s first commitment in the 2023 recruiting class. We should know who it came from soon.

EDIT: The commitment is from unranked QB Robert Long (Fairfield, CT). He currently holds other offers from Old Dominion, Temple, and UMass. He hasn't started at QB in high school yet, so the staff is betting on his upside with plenty of time to re-assess depending on his performance over the course of the next two seasons.

Yawn. Wake us up when you aren't getting beat by 50 by real teams.

Here's a profile of Nyckoles Harbor, who is arguably the Terps' #1 target for the 2023 class. On3 lists him as a MD lean for now, but he's about to head out on some campus visits and has a ton of elite schools after him, so way too soon to get excited.

He's listed as an athlete, but projects as an edge rusher. He's pretty much the definition of an athletic "freak." Listed at 6' 5" and 235 lbs, he has elite level speed, and by elite I mean there are people saying he could be a track star if he decides to go that route.

If you want to get an idea of how fast Harbor is, check out this video of him winning the 100m. Kid has sick wheels.

Crazy thing is he was one of the slowest off the block, and still won. It was the same in a race I saw a recording of a couple weeks ago. I'm guessing that's in part due to his size compared to the rest of the field....that said, for an edge rusher you'd typically prefer a guy whose quick off the block and maybe not as fast down the stretch. If that's also the case when he's in pads and going against other big dudes, he might be better off playing TE where that kind of home run speed could be more of an asset.

Maryland officially made Harbor’s Top 7, which also includes Georgia, LSU, Miami (FL), Michigan, South Carolina, and USC.

Even with Miami and SC being relatively down lately, one of those 7 is not like the others. Goes to show the power the DC connection could have.

One thing that could potentially hurt Maryland with Harbor is the fact that he wants to compete for the Olympics in track, and they aren't exactly known for having a spectacular track program. Meanwhile USC and Georgia have two of the best track programs in the country, with LSU and South Carolina not too far behind.

And another....Wise (MD) DB Mykel Morman. He's a burner who posted a 4.4 40, more than once, at a UM workout recently.
