I have learned from experience that it's often not a good idea to call out people who are making extremely emotional posts in game threads, because then they may direct that negative emotion at me and that's no fun for anybody.

Well, I'm gonna blame it on my mother ;-)

After she saw the whole Selma march on TV, with dogs and firehoses on little kids, she changed. After that, if somebody used the N-word in public (which used to be pretty normal), she'd walk right up to them and tell them to keep their filthy mouth at home where her kids wouldn't have to be exposed to that kind of garbage, and if they were gonna be out in public, they needed to show some respect. And, boy, she got some big guys backpedalling in a hurry. I learned a lesson from that: if you're there and somebody starts spewing garbage, you don't let it ride, you point it out for the garbage it is, otherwise people will think it's OK when it's not OK. Now, I fully realize this isn't quite the same thing, but still... garbage is garbage...

ps: She also yelled at umpires... no four-letter words, but she used the word "jackass" a lot...

The late Gen X's and all of the Gen Y's tend to react, then think.

Don't know if that's true or not, but if it is, that's bad news. That's pretty much the opposite of what civilization is about.

Well, I don't think it is... at least, it's not that simple... but there's something there I can't articulate. I'm no expert on generational behaviors though. I've had studies in it in my management training, so I know i'm onto something, but again, am failing miserably to articulate it.

Yeah, if there was a way to better articulate that, I'd make it a Game Thread rule, and as to not completely censor people's opinions, add an additional Game Day rant thread for the people who want to say things like, "GD you MF'er choker JJ, we've been waiting for this for 15 years and you Eff'd us all".

That would be a great idea, especially if it was a black hole where everything posted there would be automatically erased in like 5 minutes and forever lost to history... (I'm completely serious.)

What a loser... first you choke with the youtube thing, and now this... why do you always have to FAIL when it's on the line? ;-)

Seriously, don't worry about whether you can articulate it now... and when the right words do come to you, lemme know, because I am sincerely interested in and curious about this kind of thing (honest)...

I am terrible with emotions and game threads. Maturity? It all goes out the window.

Well, tonight's loss was nothing that a 2 mile walk with the dog at 1:50 in the morning couldn't cure. All better now.

I wish there was a law that made me walk 2 miles every day. It's a free, relatively painless stress reliever/preventer.

I didn't read entire thread to see if mentioned, but attendance in Game 1 of ALDS in Camden Yards was listed at -

47,841 (104.1% full) <======= :D

And the overwhelming majority were rooting for the good guys... nice!
