UD was always my favorite.

They were the first to have the pic on the back of the card too iirc.

Bowman was also a favorite.

What brand did you like best as kids?

Topps, Donruss, Fleer, Score, Upper Deck?

Upper Deck.

But I remember having a TON of Topps Stadium 1993 which is why I bought two boxes of them.

Pinnacle was pretty sweet.

Upper Deck and Leaf were cool too.

And Bowman became the go to for rookie cards.

I've got a Cal rookie card. The Topps one with two other schlubs. It's in horrible condition, someone had pinned it to a wall. But a friend got it somehow and I had to have it, remember trading a ton of other cards for it. It's the only card that isn't in a large chest at my parent's house, I've got it in my desk here with a couple other small pieces of memorabilia.

Mentioned it early. I pulled both a Cal Ripken Jr and Michael Jordan 1st day edition Topps Stadium Club cards. The Ripken I still have and the Jordan I traded to my baseball coach for a brand new 1b glove. At the time, the Ripken list in Beckett for $70ish and the Jordan was around $100. Dont know what either would go for today. Also pulled a bunch of HOF players base rookie cards in the '90s but doubt they go for much. Jeter, Pizza, Pedro, etc.

Most fun I had was randomly coming across my uncles old cards from the 60s and 70s in my grandfathers basement one day. Weren't in good condition but there were some cool cards. Jim Palmer rookie, Eddie Murray rookie, Pete Rose 2nd year card, Paul Molitor and Alan Trammell on the same rookie card. A few Mantle cards but not individual Mantles. Some others that I cant even think of right now.

Bought a jumbo hobby box of 2019 Bowman Draft today.  wasn't cheap.

Hoping to pull an Adley!  A signed orange refractor goes for $4k lol.

I've got the Eddie Murray rookie card with the little trophy in the corner.  And the Alan Trammel/Paul Molitor rookie card, and the Dale Murphy/Lance Parrish/Bo Diaz/Ernie Whitt rookie.  All in terrible condition, probably worth $5 combined.

And I haven't seen them in a while, so there's also a chance my wife threw them out.

Topps was my favorite, because, as I mentioned before, they were the only brand my local store sold.  My first introduction to cards was the classic 1987 set.  I didn't even realize there were other brands until about 2-3 years later, but I stuck with Topps.

I was a big Eric Davis fan and probably have a hundred of his cards if not more.  Wish he could have stayed healthy.

I have a 1983 Ajax Dog Food Cal Ripken card.

It’s black and white...apparently very rare although I never was able to get a confirmed price. I paid $5 for it back in the late 80s. I remember I had spent all my money at the show before I saw it and got the biz card of the guy and was able to get it after the show because he didn’t sell it.

I was told it could be worth a few hundred or a few thousand. There was a guy who used to put out a Ripken collectibles book every year. Anything that had CaL on it, he owned and had it in his book.

But he didn’t have that card. He had a space for it in the book But no picture or anything.

This.

What might have been. In April of '87 he looked like he was going to be an all timer.

Was at Target and bought a random pack of 2020 Series 1.

Pulled this bad boy.

s-l1600.jpg

Only worth about $10 but I think the cloth of the uniform in the card is cool.

Prolly wait till he gets into the HOF and see if it goes up.

Read that the Bo Bichette rookie card from Topps Series 1 has a parallel where the stats on the back are advanced stats. Going for $400 online.

[Sprints upstairs to check the one I pulled this week]

Nope. Not mine.

Curious how this goes for you. I watched 30 minutes of a video of a guy doing a case of 2020 Bowman First Edition. Not cheap at all.

Guy pulled 3 Jasson Dominguez in the first box he opened (24 packs). He put those straight into a protector. Looks like they go from $50-$100+ online already, and the refractors in the thousands.

Thats just crazy. These guys haven't done a thing.

It’s all about rarity and projection.

Probably better off selling them now.

MJ rookies are skyrocketing. Probably worth buying them one now and then hold into it. You can get it for under 10k now at top quality. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was 50k in the next decade.

Yea. Like if I pull a rare Adley do I sell? Or hold and hope it goes up even more. Tatis cards are ridiculous right now after just one season

I have a very extensive Cal Ripken collection.

It was worth a boatload after he broke the streak but selling it was never something I considered or wanted to do.

Now? It’s not worth that much at all. The value of this stuff just plummets.

The pre 1970 stuff is the stuff you can keep and see if it continues to go up.

Also, you have the certain players were their stuff will keep going up...the Jordan rookie card, perhaps Trout stuff.

People like that..the rare best of the best.

FYI all the base cards have an advanced stats parallel.  I think they're numbered to 300
