Good luck! Hope you pull a sick auto!
Well, no auto, had a relic instead. Paul DeJong. Boring.
Hobby box was better than retail. But at a higher price point. Retail packs come 16 cards to a pack at $3 a pack. Bought 22 packs total from a few different Targets. Hobby packs are 14 to a pack, 24 packs in box, plus a "silver pack" of four specialty cards.
Retail - $66/356 cards = $0.19/card
Hobby - $110/340 cards = $0.33/card (you can get the hobby a little cheaper online, but I went to a local shop. Least I can do, pandemic crushing small biz and all).
I'd say the major difference was some of the players in the parallels. Two rainbow foils I pulled from retail were pretty rough cut and wouldn't grade well, but also nothing special. Tim Anderson, meh. Nick Senzel, maybe. The two rainbow foils from hobby were Yelich and Judge and looked to be in great shape. The gold parallels (1/2020) in retail were Tyler Naquin and Jorge Alfaro. Yuck. The ones from hobby were Rendon, Soto.
Also had no Trout's in the retail, and had two in the hobby, one being a throwback Topps design. Wonder if that is by design to put Trout, who is card #1 on the checklist, in hobby and not so much in retail. Or random luck.
Hobby also had an Aaron Judge short print. Short prints come one in every 43 hobby packs. So every other box? Guess I grabbed the right one.
Time to set up an ebay store!
