My understanding is other states don't let you bet on teams in-state but no idea if that'll apply for Maryland too
So I can't walk into OPACY and bet on the O's to lose expecting it to cover my beers bought for the game?

Anyone heard any updates on when the sports betting sites will be up and running?

There doesn't appear to be a target date, but apparently betting won't be up and running in time for the start of the NFL season.

The wait continues, sounds like we are getting closer though to at least being able to place bets at the casinos.

Also, this state has been beyond pathetic in this whole thing.

I meant to post this a couple weeks ago. In Illinois I had to physically go to a casino with a Sportsbook and register with their app before you could make bets on your devices from your couch.
The process was painless. Oddly enough the two nearest to me are owned by Draft Kings and Fan Duel. DK I just had to log in while physically standing in the lobby. Took all of 10 seconds. FD a cashier registered you, took about a minute or two. But there was $100 in free play in my account afterwards.
FanDuel 1 - Draft Kings 0
Anyway. Something you may have to look out for in Maryland. I don’t know how nice the Sportsbook setup is for spending a day there. But I know I hated spending a whole day at Charlestown when I went there. Sure as hell ain’t Vegas.

Yeah, when I went to Chicago I figured I could land and start betting. Nope. And the closest casino to register is about 300 miles away from the biggest city in the state. Makes sense.
As for the books in Maryland, I have only been to Live. And I would recommend placing your bets and getting out of there. $10 for a bottle of Corona, and most table limits are $25.
You aren’t Monte Carlo. Get over yourself
I don't think that is the case anymore in Chicago. I thought I could download an app and start playing too. Caesars was probably the first one I tried and when I finally figured out the process, all of the Caesars locations that popped up in the state are in, or just outside Chicago.
I'm across the river from STL. The casino there is comparable to Live or Horseshoe. But the DK Sportsbook is hardly one at all. It's about a 20'x20' space, walls lined with kiosks for placing your bets. Above the kiosks on one wall are 5 TVs. Middle of the room is 3 high top tables. Zero chairs. It looks more like a southwest airlines check-in area. You 100% aren't spending more than 5 minutes in there. The Fanduel one is at a race track. At least that one they built the sportsbook to resemble someones basement. Think of a man cave but maybe 4 times the size. Low ceiling. 20 TVs. Maybe 30 of those nice big leather chairs with the cup holders. Behind that, high top tables with seats. A bar on the other side. They serve food and drink. At least it's place to hangout if you wanted to.

Sports betting is up and running at a Bingo World 5 minutes from my house. Not that I would really go there to watch, but it's t more convient location to place a bet rather than heading over to Live. At least until they get the online portion up and running in the state.
