They certainly aren't the most accessible band -- a few listens is necessary. I'd check out the studio cuts if you can. My favorites (in chronological order):

-Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)
-Wake Up
-Rebellion (Lies)
-Keep the Car Running
-Intervention
-No Cars Go
-My Body is a Cage
-Ready to Start
-City with no Children
-Suburban War
-Deep Blue
-We Used to Wait
-Sprawl #2 (Mountains Beyond Mountains)

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Good list... although I'd probably have Haiti on there somewhere... that song just does it for me for whatever reason.

I think I will give them a listen again soon. A lot of people on here seem to like them and maybe they are one of the bands that take a couple listens before I may start liking them? Are there any songs that anybody recommends?

My 4 favorite songs from each album are probably as follows:

Neighborhood #4 (Power Out), Wake Up, Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels), Rebellion (Lies)
No Cars Go, Intervention, Black Wave/Bad Vibrations, Keep the Car Running
We Used to Wait, Ready to Start, Sprawl II, City with No Children

It was tough to narrow it down to 4 for each.

Really loved Funeral. Took me a few listens, but it gets stuck in your head pretty quickly. Parts of The Suburbs is awesome, but it doesn't have the same staying power with me.

Have you listened to the Suburbs enough, though? The second half of that record is just unreal.

I have to say, returning to work on a Tuesday after the Ravens clinch the AFC Title over the Patriots, and listening to Arcade Fire in my office all day is about as close to euphoric as it gets. What a great day!

MPK - any progress here?

Any other Black Donnellys fans out there? I thought this show had potential.

Rebellion (Lies) is probably my top seed.

NME.com: James Murphy Calls New Arcade Fire' Album 'Really Great'

http://www.nme.com/n...cade-fire/70596

Interesting that they worked with James murphy of LCD Soundsystem.

Also, Win and Regine just had their first kid - wonder how that might change some of their tone, if at all?

Can't wait for this album.

New Arcade Fire album in October!!

http://www.stereogum...-out-1029/news/

Each of their records, in my humble opinion, have gotten progressively better, so I'm very excited about this one!

Along with The Hold Steady, they are my favorite band these days.  Can't wait.

May they win another Grammy and piss off the Teenie-Boppers!

They're my favorite's currently. Have been for 2 years now. Very excited there's finally a release date, though I'm bummed it's not until October. I had heard summer earlier in the year. Can't wait.

Listening to "Funeral" this morning at work.  I'll be listening to their stuff more and more as October approaches.

Had people over last night for the ASG and had "The Suburbs" on for a bit. Love it.

Yup, I'm excited too.

I feel like new indie music is beneath my age bracket. Can't really get into any new stuff so I have been waiting for releases from the bands I really came to love during the 2000's -- Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Walkmen, Stars, etc...

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

I have been on a HUGE... and i mean, HUGE Radiohead kick for like a month now. Just can't stop listening to them. I only got into them about a year ago.

Arcade Fire is my favorite band though, so I am fiending. A fiend of the highest order, really.

New single and video released today, "Reflektor". Catchy, dancey...you can definitely feel the James Murphy influence. Bowie on backing vocals. There's a lot to like about the song, the video is cool, but there isn't much to dig into IMO. maybe it'll play better in the context of a full album. Still a solid single though. Not too many bands can have their first single be 7.5 minutes long. AF can. Looking forward to the new album and tour.

Very disco'ey. Not sure what I think of it yet, but it's pretty catchy.
