I know that mweb is a huge fan of this band and they are my second favorite current band (The Hold Steady). Anyone else into their sound? I haven't heard any news about a new record but they should be due for one (The Suburbs came out in 2010).

It's not a popular view, but if I had to rank their records, I'd say they've gotten progressively better:

1) The Suburbs
2) Neon Bible
3) Funeral

Just to show how good they are, both Funeral and Neon Bible would go in my top 10 records of the 2000's list and The Suburbs, so far, is the album of the decade for the 2010s.....

I would probably flip those exact rankings. I used to be into them, but they just don't really do it for me anymore.

I'm still into them. Very much looking forward to where they go after The Suburbs which was such a defining album for them.

They were much better live after Neon Bible. When I saw them tour The Suburbs, they were very good, but a little dialed back.

I think this is a band that could lose their spastic energy, but thats not necessarily a bad thing.

He said they're awful based on watching them play at the Grammy's. He ripped them quite a bit and then didn't take it well when myself, NMS, and others responded to his thoughts. He actually "released" NMS simply because he disagreed with him.

He basically called them "noise" and then said he liked Avenged Sevenfold lol.

And yeah, I don't get tired of them either. It's hard for me to rank the albums as I love them all and my rankings change based on mood and how much I've been listening to one or the other. I think I'd go with Funeral, Suburbs, and then Neon Bible, but that's not concrete.

Which is all way worse when he's the owner of the site and would abuse his power against people who he disagreed with. In this case, banning a poster for no good reason to go along with people needing to tip toe around him while he breaks his own rules.

Sounds like I missed some fireworks... which isn't saying much given that there were so many over there that they all kind of blended in. He probably didn't like them because they're a Canadian band who performed on campaign events for Obama in '08.

Anywho... I agree in that the three records, as far as ranking, are interchangable. They are all awesome.

I will say with certainty that Rebellion (Lies) is my favorite song... and I realize I'm probably in the minority with that.

When I first discovered them a few years ago, this was my initial thought as well... But trust me, just listen to 'Funeral' or 'Suburbs' all the way through and let it sink in. They were very much an acquired taste for me.

I also went back this morning and re-read the thread on the OH that you guys were talking about. I can see why you guys were bothered. I listen to a whole lot of different music, but mainly I listen to rock (punk - think Faction on XM radio). Everybody has their own taste in music, and I'm not the kind to come and bash someone's favorite bands. I am always willing to try to listen to many different bands if they're recommended.

Cool. Well you gave them a shot and if you don't care for them then that's just fine.

I think I will give them a listen again soon. A lot of people on here seem to like them and maybe they are one of the bands that take a couple listens before I may start liking them? Are there any songs that anybody recommends?
