The Orioles are not yet on the clock, but I have faith they will be by the time September rolls around.

I'm confident they'll have a Top 5 pick, but am expecting their play to improve over the last two months of '19.
We will see. These names will of course change. Did hear a Baseball America rep on 105.7 today say their Too Early List For '19 they put out the day after the draft last year, had 6 of the Top 10 right.

Basically only 4-5 teams seem to have a real shot at the first pick.

We got the #2 pick!

I'm cool with either Hancock or Tork, so I'm good. Honestly to God, I'm kinda glad the Tigers are picking #1.

Every once in a while there's a CLEAR #1 pick and you WISH you had tanked and gotten it. (Harper, Strasburg etc) but MOST years there are a couple that could go in that spot and you really can't go wrong (Correa's year he was NOT projected #1, even last year there was good reasoning for Witt over Adley).

Well said. I’m also sure there will be other names worthy of the #2 pick by then, if there aren’t already. I’ve just heard those two names bandied about the most. :-)

Sounds like a good year to do the Correa thing and use the savings further down the draft.

Really like what I've seen / read about Austin Martin.

There are so many holes that I think you just take the BPA.

Until the O's prove they can develop a TOR starting pitcher I will always feel leery about drafting pitching prospects with premium picks, though Hancock seems like he checks every box.

I feel like if it’s close they’ll lean position player if only because they have so much faith in their player development for pitching.

My way too early predictions are Torkelson this year, Rocker next year.

Interesting Read!
Given the state of the current team, can we have all of the above? :-P

If I had confidence that ownership would spend on position talent, when it came time to try to win again, I would be all in on Hancock. That is still my lean, but Torkelson, Gonzalez and Martin would all be good targets given the lack of infield talent in the system.

I would be very, very excited about Torkelson, Hancock, or Lacy. Maybe it's a flaw in my thinking, but it just doesn't feel great to me to spend the #2 overall pick on a slap hitting middle infielder, no matter how good their hit tool is. My mind immediately goes to guys like Dustin Ackley, and even if they do pan out, I just don't feel like those kinds of players are franchise-altering players.

Lacy concerns me a little bit because your breaking stuff doesn't have to be *that* good to get college players out. In the majors it isn't common for an ace to get there on the strength of his breaking pitches without a quality fastball to back it up. My mind goes to Brian Matusz. Obviously he could have that kind of stuff, but give me the guy with the best fastball if I have the choice.

Watching Emerson Hancock (Georgia) on ESPN + as I type this. He's the projected #1 pick on MLB Pipeline, and a lot of the mocks I see has Detroit taking the SS from Vanderbilt (Martin).

Hopefully we can get this kid.
