Stowers can be optioned all year, it's not like they'd have to DFA him if the recall him then send him back out.

I'd rather hold Stowers as depth for now and then have him available for a deadline deal for a MLB reliever rather than swap him for a similar prospect at a different position right now.

I don't think Elias is unable to get him to SD, he's certainly capable. He just doesn't think the juice is worth the squeeze and, without any details, I think that's the right decision.

With Hays back, they didn't want Kjerstad to go from infrequent to nearly never playing.  I doubt we see even 1 start a week for Stowers, it'll be less than Kjerstad unless he rolls with his first opportunity and forces them to give him more.  Maybe the first week they'll try to get him a start to gain some comfort.  If he has a good game maybe he gets another.

Yeah because Hays deserves more chances. Going on a calendar year of him being a JAG.
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

His whole career he's been JAG. But that still is good enough to play. I don't think Stowers really has considerable offensive upside over Hays though. Kjerstad I do, but I don't think he can play LF well enough, at least not at home.

Balt Sun: Orioles outfielder Kyle Stowers, playing with confidence, hopes this trip to the majors sticks

Hit a HR tonight. Has a .950 OPS over 16 ABs. Cant wait to hear some Os fan act like he's some stud now

If he never gets another hit again he contributed more to the Marlins than Trevor Rogers ever will to the Orioles.

Stowers was shockingly worse for the Marlins last year than Rogers was for the O's.  About twice as much opportunity though, so on a rate-basis Rogers was worse.

I'll always hate the decision-making that went into the trade even if Rogers figures it out while Norby and Stowers fade away.  Cost to acquire him lags far behind him not being a good enough target as reasons for that hatred.  Would've been happy to trade both those guys for Fedde who was dealt for what I think is a lesser package.  Having Fedde also would've meant we had one more SP in the fold this offseason and could've pooled the Morton/Sugano/Gibson money into one higher quality pitcher.

Oh well, here's hoping Rogers can get back on the field and produce.  I got a bad feeling he's going to get an opportunity at some point this season.

I wouldn't have been happy with Rogers if he were free. I do like Norby, not so much Stowers; think he's likely a AAAA/bench guy.

Agree with everything you said. However, it’s Rogers, who is in the fold next year, unless he’s released or non-tendered. Fedde is a free agent after this season.

One could make a case that the Orioles have a pretty decent base for a rotation next year with Bradish, GRod, Kremer, Povich, McDermott, Roger’s, Young, T. Wells. Depending on health, it’s quite possible they’re only looking for one or two pitchers.

Pre-2025 is the "this offseason" I was talking about. I'd rather have had Fedde for last year and this than Rogers for any amount of extra time.

Probably not a stud, but that was an awful trade,  I hope Rogers comes up and pays some dividends, but to date an F on that deal.

Great day for Stowers today.

....second 2-HR day in a week and today included a walk-off slam against Mason Miller.

Meanwhile, Trevor Rogers has a 11.57 ERA in 4.2 IP in one start each at Chesapeake and Norfolk.

Fitting that one of the guys we traded for this bum is performing. And fitting that we can't scratch together a run most nights and he's mashing down there in Miami.

I have been assured that he sucks though so it's cool. Flawed players who aren't top 100 never get good.
