I am glad he is in Bowie.  Henderson is so young, that no baseball would have been a set back to his development.

Really good to hear that he thinks he's progressed faster than he otherwise would have.  Very smart of the O's to include him at Bowie.  

 

And why does Eric Hanhold have such mediocre minor league stats?

Exciting he thinks he's helping the Orioles win the WS in a year or two.

 

I'll be interested to see if they leave him at SS.  I think most people envision him moving to 3B, but they've kept him at SS so far (I believe, right?) and whether he has the defensive chops to stay there.

 

I think the point on competition in the Bowie camp is a good one, especially for younger guys like Henderson who haven't faced that level of competition.  He hasn't even played in a full-season league yet and I wonder if that competition bump helps him produce when he hits A-ball next year (essentially going backwards).

Can't read the article, but how is BA doing any grading of prospects in the current environment?  They haven't seen anybody play in two years.

They have camp looks but I don't think this is so much guys moving up from 'performance' as you have a wave of guys (going back to last year) that are losing their status and the guys that were in the 110s are moving up.

 

For Gunnar, he's also probably carried a little bit of helium from the camp work against older players.

Crushed an opposite field homerun (a little over 400 feet) in his first full season at bat. Easy power.

The oppo-field power is so impressive. But something else I've noticed while watching his at-bats that I love just as much...his plate discipline. He tracks pitches right to the plate with a noticeable confidence that you don't see from most other guys at that level. 

 

Really good start to the year for him and I agree..he will probably be in Aberdeen before too much longer.

Henderson could rise quickly.  After not playing for a year, it is real impressive to see him start fast.

Three shortstops on the Delmarva roster (Henderson, Westburg, Servideo), pretty sure today was the first day he was at third. They said there will be a rotation of sorts.
