How about MSJ WR that has numerous texts from Coach Mayo. It ainât rocket science but you guys will go after any kid, any where, any state. Then look for loopholes in the rules and act like everybody is doing it. Weâve beat this horse to death Stallion. SFA has cheated at unprecedented scales. So much so that very respectable coaches and programs refuse to play you. At what point do you accept some responsiblity for the position you are in? Instead itâs easier to just say everyone is racist and doesnât want to see a minority school win. Really. Have you looked at the make up of the other MIAA schools. Plenty of minorities everywhere. Instead, all other teams are cowards even though they play Dematha, GC, etc. time to look at yourself a bit and ask why all this happened for the first time in Maryland high school football history.
Donât mention the âminorityâ players or their parents. They didnât make the decision that caused this BS. It was the predominantly âmajorityâ coaches, athletic directors and presidents that had final say. They are the cowards. If youâd have given the players and their parents the final say, the âcowardlyâ Catholic schools would have played SFA and competed very well despite the final outcome.
Btw, is it true that Gilman, in their heyday beat MIAA teams by a higher margin of victory than SFA did in 2017? If so, those coaches, administrators and presidents never called for Gilman and their partner in crime, McDonogh, to leave the league!
A simple proposal would have been to have the Maryland Department of Education, along with the MIAA board and member schoolsâ leadership verify the age of each player league wide by certified birth certificates prior to the start of the 2018 HS football season. Any MIAA players players turning 19 before August 1st (start of summer practice) could have been disqualified from playing varsity. In addition, any players turning 17 before August 1st could have been disqualified from playing JV.
Residency of players shouldnât have been factored in due to Gilman & McDonogh providing room & board to student athletes, including football players, in the past. Strong and proactive MIAA leadership could have avoided last summerâs cluster%&#! and this Message Board could have been spared of all this unnecessary bickering.
