Akin at 8 and Hall at 5 are awful, especially since Tate is at 4.

I think I'd probably have them both in mine.

I think I'd probably have them both in mine.

HH is too injured to be considered for these lists right now.  The potential is there but there is nothing else beyond that to rely on.

McKenna does have a case because he has performed well in AFL.  He was awful in AA but he is a little younger than I thought, so that helps.

In no particular order:

Hall, Mountcastle, Hays,Rodriguez, Diaz, Tate, Ortiz, Kremer and Akin.

Those 9 are the ones I think you have to have in above those 2. I think I have Encarnacion as the 10th guy.  His upside is really high but the K/BB ratios are terrible.  Still, he has that potential that few guys in the organization have.

I would also put Lowther and Blaine Knight ahead of McKenna.  I would consider Knight over Ortiz and Tate as well.

So, somewhere in the 13-15 range is the highest I can see McKenna and HH.

BSL put Tate #9 which I thought was too high.  Fangraphs putting him at #4 is downright crazy, IMO.  His blurb reads to me like it was from a scout who saw him pre-draft and loved the stuff, but hasn't seen him since and is basing the upside as if he still had the raw skills he showed out of college rather than the meh stuff he has shown every day as a pro.  The numbers certainly don't do anything for him.

I'm biased against him, and haven't seen any of these guys beyond some highlights or one random game, nor do I know what I'm looking for anyways, but I don't think I'd put him top-15 and maybe not top-20.

I don't think any of Tate, Ortiz or Kremer HAVE to be in.  I think certainly you can make a case for all 3, but none of those 3 are absolutes.  I'll take my chances on Harvey over any of them right now and hope that he's just had a really bad run of injuries.  It does seem at this point like he should be a bullpen guy, but we'll see what happens.

Chris you should yank Mullins from the BSL list.  He got way too much time this year to still be on prospect lists.  He's a major leaguer now.

Kremer definitely does.

I think there is an argument against Ortiz and Tate but not for HH or McKenna.

Tate seems to be that "opener" type guy.  That 80-120 innings power arm but not someone you want going 170+ innings.

At some point, you have to start getting a return on things in terms of ranking players.  Not sure how you can rank him in the top 10 with him barely pitching for 3 years.

I would probably go like this:

Akin

Hays

Kremer

Knight

Ortiz

Encarnacion

Tate

Lowther

McKenna

HH

Pop

For the nothing this is worth:

1. Diaz

2. Mountcastle

3. Hall

4. Rodriguez

5. Akin

6. Kremer

7. Hays

8. Ortiz

9. Harvey

10. Lowther

11. McKenna

12. Knight

13. Tate

14. Hall

15. Grenier

It's a struggle to find guys for the back-end of the top-10 and beyond.  Some skills that project, but nothing that stands out.  Of course most guys outside the top-10 for any team would need to have a significant breakthrough to jump up and be someone you expect to become a regular.

7. Austin Hays

8. Luis Ortiz

9. Zac Lowther

10. Blaine Knight

11. Ryan McKenna

12. Hunter Harvey

13. Dillon Tate

14. Jean Carmona

15. Jean Carlos Encarnacion

HM - Zach Pop, Michael Baumann, Branden Kline, Drew Rom, Cadyn Grenier

Its actually not even a bad top 20.  System is definitely better.

Not sure there are any studs/elite guys but the upside is there for some to be really good.

Agree.  There are a lot of guys where you can see the potential if things go right.  Of course with guys like that, it' gotta break out at some point.  If you're playing at 22 and don't make that jump, it's probably not going to happen.  Big year for a lot of the guys in the high single digits to mid-teens.  Most will fall outside of the top-20 unless they have big years, but a big year could put them on pace for near top-5 and legit potential as a future MLB player.

No question.  Love the jump Hall made this year.  That was huge to see.  That's what you want to see with Rodriguez next year.
