Part of this sounds like excuse making by the coach, but part (the larger part), sounds like kids realizing they can go somewhere else, whenever they want.

Not only can they get paid for the first time ever, but they also introduced free agency at the same time. It's the wild west right now.

I agree, the kids have the power in today's college sports.   Giving kids so young the power is a difficult task to manage.

For years colleges made a ton of money off these kids.

The only kids making money, were the ones doing it under the table and illegally.

This current situation isnt idea, but they are trying to do something.

Terps crack the Top 10 in this week’s AP Poll, ranked #9. Despite all the off-season departures, Frese has her team rolling this year.

They just demolished Iowa. Their 4th win vs a Top 10 team this year.

After all of their losses in the transfer portal, everyone was writing them off. Instead, Brenda has quietly put together one of her best teams.

Hate to be pessimistic, but expecting another 2nd round exit. Frese's teams are notorious for choking in the tournament.

While I agree they’ve underperformed more than they likely should’ve in past years, they’ve made it to the second weekend in 7 out of their last 10 tournament appearances. So if they do exit, it’s typically not before reaching the Sweet 16.

Another Top 10 win tonight, this time a blowout against Illinois. Just so impressive what Brenda’s been able to do this season.

I've come to think of Brenda Frese as sort of the female version of Lefty Dreisell. Fantastic recruiter, can put together some really talented squads, but still no bananas come tournament time. (And yes, I know she has won an NCAA championship at Maryland.)
