After being down by as many as 17 points during the second half, Maryland stormed all the way back to beat Alabama in a double-overtime thriller. They advance to the Sweet Sixteen for the fourth time in the last five years, and will face off against top-seeded South Carolina in Birmingham on Friday.

This is the first time in school history that both Maryland’s men’s and women’s teams have advanced to the Sweet Sixteen in the same season.

I taught Mir McLean for four years at Roland Park. She's an amazing kid and I'm so thrilled for her.

Sarah Ashlee Barker (who I admit I knew nothing about until tonight) was a one-woman gang for the Tide. 17-for-25 from the field and 4-of-6 from three-point territory. Those are Caitlin Clark type numbers.

Maryland took the defending champs right down to the wire today, but will ultimately fail to advance to the Elite Eight.

With the 17th pick in tonight's WNBA Draft, Shyanne Sellers was drafted by Golden State. She becomes the 17th Maryland player to be drafted since Brenda Frese took over as head coach in 2002.
