They need to be able to make a free throw. The Terps clanked 10 of their 25 free throw attempts, while UCLA went 21-for-22. That was the difference.

Every year for quite a few years. Before basketball starts up for Maryland.
Its a pretty sure thing that the girls will out preform the boys when the season is all said and done.

Much less ego out there on the court.
Both teams run camps in the summer as part of raising funds, the boys will act like they are NBA players and superstars, will barely show their faces or do anything. The girls are out there actively participating, running drills and segments, and interact with the kids like they are actual people and they care about them.

I like the Lady Terps coach and she runs a good program.
But, I also agree with what you are saying and you arent wrong either.

My niece and nephew have been doing their camps for a couple years now. They both love it, and they really like the instruction they get from coaches, but the interesting stand out is always that the coaches do everything in the boys camp, and they might see a player here or there, but generally not much interaction. My niece was on a first name basis with different girls every year though, to the point where she'd show up to a game that season, and they'd remember her by name, give her hugs come take pics wave throughout the game etc. Like they were THEIR girls and they were proud older sisters.
I've seen some of that in the smaller sports too, like softball coaches from a few of the local schools have reached out to ME about bringing my girls out to come see them and do on field stuff with them, I've heard Lax and Field Hockey are kinda the same way. I don't know how the boys teams are with the smaller sports in that way, but my kids are just hitting the age to be able to do the overnight camps and such now, so I expect I'll see a lot more of that in the near future.
