Any update on Rodriguez' injury? Saw that Hyde called it a mild strain a couple days ago. Would love to hear that its only gonna be 2-3 weeks and not something more scary. Really need him back for the playoffs.

They said last night it was the same injury that caused him to miss 3 months in 2022. I wouldn't expect him back this year.

"Same injury" doesn't necessarily tell us anything unless we also know it's the same grade.

We really need him back by mid September so he can get a couple of starts before the playoffs! But your premise is right. Even with the playoffs being a crapshoot. A rotation of Burnes, Eflin, Kremer, and Rogers would be really tough to win with. The only one of those who you are probably a favorite with is Burnes. Eflin would probably be a flip and probably underdogs with Kremer and Rogers.

Yeah I've been on the "just get in and get hot" train, but that feels a lot more doable with Eflin as the 3 and not Kremer.

I can squint hard and see Kremer or Rogers having a few good postseason starts that keep us in games, but not both. That's a bridge too far for my optimism.

Is this situation less serious than in 2022 when Rodriguez missed three months at Triple-A with a lat strain?
“It seems to be. Seems to be,” said Hyde. “Diagnosing right now as a mild strain. Never know what the timetable is going to be. But hope that he can miss just some time and then rejoin us."
Take it for what’s worth.

Before/during last night's game, they briefly mentioned the situation. But all they really did was echo that it's a less serious strain than the 3 month version he experienced prior, and they expect he'll be back in a couple weeks.
Good news! I saw a dog today.

I would be ecstatic if he could be back by early September.
We're all with you on that.
A part of me wonders of Burnes is afraid to drink the water in the clubhouse.

Two September starts would be awesome but even one would be very important. Come late September we are liable to be fighting for the division lead.

MASN: Rodriguez Update
https://www.masnspor...return-and-more
Manager Brandon Hyde confirmed that Rodriguez still isn’t facing hitters. His progression has stalled at bullpen sessions.
Only six regular season games are left, which likely prohibits Rodriguez from making the Wild Card roster if the Orioles clinch it. Starting in the Division Series, if they advance, also would be challenging because of the difficulty in stretching him out.
There are no more minor league games to be played, which leaves intrasquad-type competition down in Sarasota. And the Orioles never committed to using Rodriguez out of the bullpen.
Right lat-teres discomfort has prevented Rodriguez from pitching since July 31. He’s 13-4 with a 3.86 ERA and 1.243 WHIP in 20 starts and would have given the Orioles a formidable setup in a playoff rotation with Corbin Burnes and Zach Eflin ahead of him.
