Unless you extend him, you are getting hammered regardless.

I can see that but at least there is a legit reason to not sign him.

And the fans that would hammer him for not giving him a blank check have no idea how that affects the rest of the roster. They want the O's pay roll to be $1 billion dollars. That's not realistic.

And i do believe people do love Manny and want him to be here, but I don't think he's completely endeared himself to fans either.

If he signed with Miami, or SD, I dont think many people would be all that upset. It's the certainty of him going to NYY, whether this offseason or next, that pisses people off.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Sure. But it's a matter of degree.

Losing a generational talent to the Yankees will just suck. No matter what we do, did, or didn’t do to prevent it, it’s going to be a massive gut punch. Or it kind of already is, being so seemingly inevitable. It just makes it that much harder to be a fan when this type of bullshit is going on. FUCK THE YANKEES.

Not really..you don’t sign him, your fan base hates you.

Only thing that matters is that you turn yourself into a winner quickly.

And trading him and getting some good prospects back is a way to do that.

How can he not see this?

Rangers got Matt Moore for very little. Don’t know how the Os aren’t in on that.

Wonder if this is a sign they are serious about Manny?

That's my first impression too, and why I started thinking about a Phillies package. I saw they were close to trading Galvis to free up SS for Crawford, and thought he could be a centerpiece back.

The only stumble point is they are just coming out of a rebuild, they aren't going to risk it being a one and done sorta thing.

Well it doesn’t make sense they would be after him...but apparently they are.

Like you said, Galvis was also traded.

Crawford could be the beneficiary and he likely is but it does further open up the possibility.

I mean I guess if they think they are far enough along on the rebuild, they are a big market team, spending when you can I guess makes sense. I saw them as being a player for one of the big guns, Manny, Harper, etc. Just not a lot of players want to play there. Bringing in Santana, and having Hoskins, and they've got a couple INF prospects who look solid, but still need that franchise type player. And I'd expect them to overpay a little for Manny cause they were all here when he was, don't understand why teams do that, but they do. I guess devil you know...

Who knows. Pitching is still going to be an issue for them though, I didn't think they were there yet, but if they are spending like that, and on a 3 year deal for Santana I guess they are ready to go in. Who knows.
