Uruguay was the better side. They had several chances to score and didn't. Suarez did his hallmark take an extra touch instead of shooting and allowed the keeper to make a great save instead of having no chance.

 

Still Egypt played quite well and were in the match. Shame Salah couldn't go. He may have been a difference maker?

 

Coming up later today is a great matchup in Portugal v Spain. Interesting to see how Spain comes out having just gotten their manager fired....against the wishes of several players.

If Uruguay beats Russia as expected... will be interesting to see what happens with Egypt and Russia.  Egypt will need a big scoring game vs. Saudi Arabia after Russia's 5 goals yesterday.

Iran played just well enough to keep Morroco off the score board and thanks in a big part to their keeper. Still to get the W is the goal even if it was via an own goal....lol. Iran sucks but they got the three points.

Now mixed emotions for the Spain - Portugal game. Want to see Ronaldo do his magic but Daivd de Gea is my keeper of choice.

Well Spain tied it up but they reviewed the play. Ok so far so good.

 

But then they allow the goal to stand. Say what!!!! That's a foul clear as day. It amazes me in sports how often they use video review and then just miss it anyway. I am not talking about questionable plays or having to have irrefutable evidence. I am talking about when its right there for the whole world to see and they still eff it up.

OMG!!! Right before the half Ronaldo makes it 2-1 on an awful mistake by de Gea.  Even THE best keepers in the world make mistakes. And that was a bad one.

You know what. For extra time, they should have a clock that keeps time as the fake injury stuff and other stoppages are going on. Then when the game clock hits 90, the extra clock ticks back down, game ends at 0. Iran should have been a draw. Stupid rules like ending the game whenever they want to cost Morroco a game, and me $22.
