USA up early, Turner with a great penalty save, field looks shitty.
Shitty would be an improvement for the field...

Well in the end they got the road W and that's always a good thing. My overall thoughts.
1. The field had a profound impact on the game. Both sides struggled to find the right pace on their passes.
2. Referee was ok but pretty inconsistent. Called a foul on the US (correctly so) and gave a card (very marginal given the location of the foul and the impact on the play). Then 2 minutes later called a foul on Jamaica (correctly so) in dang near the exact spot of the earlier foul. But no card (way incorrect given the previous yellow and this was for an attacking play). No wonder Pulisic was pissed.
3. Stats didn't tell the story. Jamaica way outshot the US but mostly long distance prayers. US should have had 2 if not 3. Jedi missed a clean break on the keeper. Sure Blakes a great keeper but put the dang shot someplace besides right at him.....lol.
4. Still don't understand what Poch is trying to do with Musah as a winger?
So handle business Monday and on to March.

Glad Jamaica didn't have Antonio or it would've been a different outcome
Antonio is back tonight but so is Weah. And the field shouldn't impact the play. Sadly Cardoso left camp with his injury. Interesting to see if Poch trots Tillman back out at the 6 or if he goes a different direction such as Morris? Good news is Weah should start on the wing which lets Musah move back to midfield where I think he belongs.
Update: Antonio will NOT be playing tonight. Some screw up with his passport so didn't even travel to St. Louis.

That was just a terrific display (some blunders on defense not withstanding) last night. Aggressive possession. I think we are already seeing the benefits of Pochettino. He still has them maintaining strong possession but using that in a progressive manner to quickly move into the attacking third. I can't remember the last time we scored 4 goals from the run of play in a competitive match. And they could have had more. Just really good match.
So here are my player ratings:
8+: Tessman, Pulisic, Weah, Jedi, McKennie
7-8: Pepi, Musah, Turner
6-7: Scally, MacKenzie, Ream - Poch has 18 months to figure out our CB pairing because Ream and MacKenzie aint it. Need Richards back and playing well and then maybe Miles Robinson. Scally was ok but he doesn't nave the recovery speed of Dest.
Subs: Aaronson and Busio were very good. Vasquez may have played himself out of future callups. Dude put those open chances on frame. JFC that was awful.
Pochettino: I am tempted to give him a freaking 10 but I will just give him a 9 to save room for future improvements. That was a masterful game plan. Using Jedi as a box to box midfielder when we had possession was insanely smart. Not only got us more control in the middle of the field but gave Weah tons of space on the left flank and he killed Jamaica with that space. So glad he is our coach.
On to March!!!

OMG, Vasquez thanks but no thanks. You have 2 point blank shots with no defenders in the way and you can't even put them on goal...

Roster announcement for the upcoming camp and matches against Venezuela and Costa Rica on the 18th and 22nd of this month. Lots of young players and several vets to show them the ropes.

Pulisic injured again, it's a shame he's incapable of staying healthy for a full season.
Sometimes that comes down to how they are used and how much they are playing. Might be where he's playing just isn't good for his health. Or could just be a fluke, who knows.
I just know I see it in youth a lot, you'll see two types of CM, the huge, physical bruisers, who like to bang, carry and control the ball, or you see really undersized (i mean tiny) kids with really good footskills who pass well and can dribble around contact. Sooner or later that little one gets DRILLED by the big one though, and so many injuries from that. I imagine you see something similar as you keep moving up the ladder, just the size gap probably isn't as severe.
I guess my point is like hockey. Goal scorers, you've got finesse players that don't make contact, are super polite, and the unsaid rule is you don't get real physical with them unless they start something (Gretzky, Mogilny, Sellanne). Or you've got the big bruising physical guys that will fire cannon shots, crash the net, hit you off the puck and get dirty rebounds and tips (Guerin, Marchant, Messier). Ovi has been a generational player because he's kind of both of these, you don't get the skill of the finesse guys on a physical banger, except for him. But those finesse guys, if they were trying to bang near the net and get physical all the time, you'd see them hurt a lot more often. It's a miracle Ovi has been as durable has he has.

US vs Venezuela coming up in an hour. Watch some real football as a tuneup for the other football.....lol

Solid performance by a bunch of guys who haven't played together much. Hard to extrapolate this to the full roster but in general it looks like Poch has them playing a solid defense and playing out the back but with a more direct movement forward.
Lots of line breaking passes from deep in the midfield had Venezuela on its heels. Well done guys. Next up Costa Rica on Tuesday.

Man they guys looked even better last night. Diego Luna and Jack McGlyn can flat thread the needle with their passes.
Overall:
Stock Up: Luna, McGlynn, Agyemang, Clark and believe or not Steffen. He had two terrific stops last night.
