Up 3-0 at '80. I think advancement is in the bag.

U23 win 3-0 and advance. They play Morocco and actually are in decent shape to get a medal. Morocco will be tough but certainly a winnable game then we would play the winner of Spain - Japan. If we beat Morocco and then lose to Spain/Japan we would probably play Egypt or Paraguay for the Bronze Medal. These guys have a legit shot at a medal something they have never done!

Paredes is certainly earning some looks from bigger clubs. He's had a really good tournament. Lets hope it continues Friday against Morocco!

Well all but over. Morocco kicked our butts. Still great run for us buy just not enough.

Was it though? Started and ended with a beatdown, in between we beat a couple of minnows.

Yes it was a great run.
1. France was not a beat down. That game was a lot closer than the scoring line.
2. I'd give YOU NZ was a minnow. Guinea only lost 1-0 to France.
3. Also have to consider the roster. We could have fielded a much stronger side. Guys who could have been there: Pepi, Brendan Aaronson, Cardosa, Balogun, Reyna, Musah, and Scally. USSF chose, to focus more on COPA America and go with a lesser roster for the Olympics. A decision I think was correct.

Oh and one other point. Lets not forget that this was essentially a home game for Morocco, which was favored by the way.

Sounds like Mauricio Pochettino is in line to become the new USMNT head coach. That’s about as good a hire as you could hope for, well done by the USSF.

Interesting that he will apparently mostly remain in Europe. Could be a plus with many of our top players over there. Either way, definitely a higher profile hire than I was expecting.

Been holding my breath and wasn't going to say anything until it was confirmed by USSF, and its still not. But this certainly appears to be true. This is a home run hire guys.

And Reyna is hurt again....... maybe I am misremembering but I feel like his dad also was constantly battling to stay on the field.
