Don't you hate on my boy Steffen. I TOLD you he never really got the chance he should have here.

Steffen has been my guy for a long time. Especially since Berhalter decided playing out of the back was paramount. I love Turner's shot stopping. But I cringe evertime he has the ball at his feet.

But the guy going forward sooner or later is going to be Patrick Schulte or Diego Kochen (keep an eye on this kid!!).

West Ham offered PSV 25 million for Pepi and PSV told them no.

Josh Sargent with 2 more over the weekend. He's put in 7 since coming back from injury last month!

He's in terrific form and his timing is great with Nations semi-final and hopefully final next month.

Steve, how would you currently rank the US's 10 most talented players regardless of position?

Steve, how would you currently rank the US's 10 most talented players regardless of position?

Interesting question.

Off the top of my head:

1. Pulisic

2. Antonee Robinson

3. Adams

4. McKennie

5. Richards

6. Weah

7. Dest

8. Reyna

9. Musah

10. Sargent/Pepi/Balogun

Now let me explain a bit.

1. Pulisic, Robinson, and Adams are world class players

2. Mckennie through Reyna are top tier players but also have inconsistency issues. Now some of that is injury related and some of it is due to their club situation (Reyna has both these issues).

3. Musah is really really good at moving the ball from box to box. But he hasn't yet figured out how to translate that into a dangerous attack. Now clearly Pochettino sees something here to work on as he's played on the wing in every US match under Poch.

4. Now the strikers. This is a really tough position to grade as its all about scoring goals. But you can't score goals if your teammates don't get you the ball in good positions. All 3 of our guys can score. Balo is the best at using his body to shield the ball to get off a quality shot. That's a biggie. Pepi has the best finish but needs to show that against better competition. Sargent is the best in the midfield and defensively and he IS having a monster season scoring so lets see how he looks next week. Today if all 3 were healthy and in form then Balo gets the start. He's got the highest ceiling.

Is Brendan Aaronson hurt or his stock has just fallen?

No he's actually had a really good season with Leeds. But I think he has two issues.

1. Other players have passed him up skill wise.

2. He still tends to get knocked off the ball too easily

I like BA a bunch. He's got a terrific motor and heart. And he's top club player. But this is the Nats and there are only so many spots to go around. In this case Nations League rosters are back to old school 23 so he's one of those that gets left off.

Has he been consistently starting for Leeds or coming off the bench? Dominating the Championship (Leeds) is no small feat.

He's started in 95% of Leeds matches this season and has played 88% of their total minutes!

Robinson, Cardoso and Trusty out for various illnesses/medical reasons.  I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with Robinson, maybe just a load management thing as Fulham still fighting for the FA Cup.   As a Fulham fan I'm not sad to see Robinson take a break.  As one of my fellow fans said, Pochettino has some questions to get answered before the World Cup, but who will play left back is not one of them.

Piss poor load management by Fulham. Enough said. Can't keep one of our best players home because you didn't manage his club time.

To clear, I'm not sure that was the case.  I just know that he just played a full game against Tottenham this weekend.  Maybe he did pick up a knock or isn't feeling well.  I'm just guessing that if Fulham had a big game this week he'd be playing but I don't know that.  I haven't been able to find any confirmation of exactly what injury/illness he's dealing with.

Which is exactly why I think this was a load management issue. If it was a knock they  would have just said so.

0-0 at the half. US mostly in control and has outshot Panama 3-1. 60/40 possession. No cards for either team, however, Sargent got taken down from behind which to me was clearly a yellow.

Guess we see Reyna and/or Luna  before too long into the second half. The sub regulation narrow field is not helping our attack. No room wide at all and with Panama playing with 5 in the back tough to break that down.
