Wonder why he worked out of relief today?  Hadn't started since 5/2

Still too many walks. Not a good start at all for Hall.

Agreed the walks are too many but why say "not a good start at all"?  I don't get that comment.

To 2019. My bad. Today was quality overall, despite the walks.

I know you meant for 2019.  But I still don't get it.

Yes, the walks are terrible.  The K's are great, he has only given up 18 hits and only 1 homer.

If he had given up 9 runs instead of 11, his ERA would be 3.63.  Would you still say he has been off to a bad start if that was the case?

The average age of A ball is around 22...he's 20.

At that level, yes. Can't walk that many guys.

Bowie was off and Kremer was lined up to start is my guess. Could creatively limit his innings for a turn while getting Kremer’s feet wet.

Not worried about Hall. Not an ideal start but nothing that has me thinking less of him.

Kinda the same thing as the low A guys. This org. very much believes in the innings thrown number, and they are going to try to manage it for the younger guys over the season. You'll see a lot of this done I think. The number to watch will be at the end of the season and what number they let them get to, since it's our first run with them we don't know how aggressive they will be and what % increase in pitches they are going to let them throw, but being so analytical, I FULLY expect them to be tracking it by pitch count and not be inning count too.

@keithlaw

“came to watch DL Hall tonight (up to 96 with a plus CB) only to see him ejected after 2 2/3 #umpshow”

Must’ve been arguing balls and strikes. Manager Ryan Minor was ejected as well. 2.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 5 K

Not a subscriber but here is the first part of a new Law article where he is talking about Hall:

I was supposed to lead this post with D.L. Hall, the Orioles' first-round pick in 2017 and my No. 63 prospect coming into the the 2018 season (first in the O's system), but the home plate ump for Hall's start on Thursday night had other plans.

Hall got through 2 2/3 innings in his outing at Wilmington before he was ejected for allegedly arguing balls and strikes, although any dispute -- and he had real reason to be upset, as the ump missed at least two called strikes on breaking balls in that inning -- was so fast that I missed it while writing a note on the hard-hit single Nick Pratto had just hit off Hall. Before the umpshow hit, I did at least get to see Hall working 93-96 with a plus curveball at 79-83 that had real two-plane break, although he was wild and didn't show average command of either pitch. There's nothing in the delivery to say he can't get to average command or control in the future, but for the moment it's just a power approach -- he's trying to blow guys away with velocity and then changes speeds

Judging by that report, I actually think it’s fair to put Rodriguez ahead of Hall. It seems that Rodriguez is more polished.

I have Grayson ahead of him but it’s close. Either way an exciting tandem on top of a deep pile of pitchers.

Does he have a third pitch?  Something like a change up, or a two-seamer?

His BABIP right now is out of this world in a bad way, at .449.

He has a change. Adam's Scouting Report is on the last page.

5 IP, 2 hits, 1 run and 6ks.

He did walk 3 though.

He threw 87 pitches and only 54% of them for strikes.

So obviously control and likely fastball command are what he needs to work on.

Still, he’s showing well at a young age for that level. ERA down to 4.11.
