Pedro cracks me up. Hence the "likes". But I'm in full agreement with IG and McNulty. Moves like this are potentially important. Those frings acquisitions have been the difference in being a playoff team or not of late. AM was the opposite... "what's the point" type of mindset with these types. Of course, we weren't competing, but I enjoy DD's no stone unturned approach, even if there is an element of DDDD there.

All true...but the one thing I will say is that people act like DD is so unique in this aspect of things and does it better than anyone else.

I disagree with that thought.

I agree. Half of the teams in the league don't look to even make moves like this because they know they're going to lose 80-90 games anyway.

These moves are fine if they're using to augment a better core.  The problem with DDDD is that he makes moves like this to be part of the core.

We have that core that you speak of and newsflash- FA pitchers don't often want to come to pitch in Camden Yards against the Yanks, Sox, and Blue Jays for a tight-fisted owner. DD is only your scapegoat.

Alliteration?

You actually believe DD is my only scapegoat?

Have you read my posts, like, ever?

I hate PA and blame him much more than DD.

I haven't read any of your posts, like, ever.

I just think the vast majority of what you and others complain about DD traces back to Angelos and is cognitive dissonance.

Signing mid level starters is death (Gallardo and Jimenez), and the Parra trade was pretty bad.  But otherwise, I can't think of many things DD has done that you can't reasonably defend.  The Seth Smith trade was a miracle.  Maybe the Norris deal, but he pitched pretty well for us in 14.

Criticizing the bigger moves seems like fair game, when appropriate, but to be snarky about this type of stuff?  Its tedious at best.

I think the reason was clear from the jump. I'm beyond sick and tired of dumpster memes everytime we make a minor move.

Have a good day too.

Maybe some of you get tired of the DD bashing for his dumpster moves because some of us are tired that is pretty much all DD does.

The old throw it up against the wall, and see what sticks method of acquiring players.

If he brings in15 guys, the odds are one of them may actually be able to play.

SG's boy Worley has been released. Could get him back for less than half some would have given to him in arb.

Chris Johnson has also been resigned.

Probably the wrong thread but didnt feel like starting a new one

I haven't seen what Worley's done this spring, and I don't know if he's stretched out enough anyways, but at this point I'd trust him as the spot start option in April over any of the internal options we have.  Would definitely look into bringing him back.

Worley, a non-roster invitee, was in the hunt for a long-relief role with the Nationals, but it looks like Jeremy Guthrie, who remains in camp, will assume that role if Washington elects to keep a long man. The 29-year-old Worley hurt his chances by coughing up nine runs on 16 hits in 15 innings during Grapefruit League play, while also turning in a 6:6 K:BB ratio. He could draw interest from other organizations as a swingman, but he'll likely have to settle for a minor-league contract wherever he lands.

Pretty ugly spring training.

I don't care about the spring numbers so much, I think I know what he can do at this level.  I do think it matters how he's done in his most recent outings, would probably roll with the hot hand either in spring numbers or early season minor league numbers for the two guys we'll need to call up for starts over the first 3-4 weeks of the season.

If he's stretched out, I'd definitely add him back into the mix on a minor league deal.  Not sure if I'd go right to him as our initial spot starter or give someone else a shot first.  But I think having him as an option improves our depth and gives us a better shot at having passable performance for those early spot starts, which is hopefully all we have to fill.
