I think the Browns are making the right choice in staying with Mayfield.  They don't have a replacement option.  He was hurt most of last year, but he played hurt and showed a lot of guts doing it.  I think he has enough talent to lead Cleveland to the playoffs.  I don't consider them good enough to beat the top tier AFC teams of KC, Buffalo, or Cincy, and I don't see them winning the division, but I do think they can be a playoff team with a healthy Mayfield.

Browns pursuing Watson now, and Mayfield posted basically what amounts to a “Goodbye, thank you Cleveland” social media post.

Really hope the Texans send Watson out of the conference and especially the division. Sounds like the Browns may be in on Jimmy G if they dont get Watson.

I hope the Browns get Jimmy G and commit to him for several years. Not that I think he's "bad", but he's certainly not a QB that presents that "can lift a team by himself" concern to me...

Well said.  I would much rather they get Jimm G than Watson.

Watson seems the bigger risk to me. If he goes and assaults or rapes somebody again and actually is held responsible this time, whatever team took on his baggage will be in a world of cap hell. "It was all made up" or "he's learned his lesson" are the only routes to acquiring him not ending in disaster. Good luck, I guess, to whoever takes him on.

Once Watson goes wherever the movements begin. SF is still holding onto Jimmy G. If the Falcons get Watson, Ryan possibly goes to the Colts and the Browns pursue Jimmy G. Then they can trade Mayfield to Seattle or Carolina. Cleveland could draft a QB at 13 to really upset Mayfield. More fun.
