Bret Bielema could probably let Jeff Brohm know if he thinks leaving his job for Tennessee is a good idea or not.

I don't think Wisconsin --> Arkansas is the best comp for Purdue --> Tennessee. Though I do agree Brohm might be better off staying put for now.

Gundy has butt heads with the OSU administration and Pickens in the past. Maybe he feels the support isn't there for them to break through the glass ceiling to get to Oklahoma's level. Of course he'll really have his work cut out for him at Tennessee....but who wouldn't.
Maybe Gundy is just arranging to get a bigger payday from OK ST... (??)

Joe Moorhead headed to Mississippi State, per Brett McMurphy.
McMurphy also reporting Tennessee offered Gundy 6 years, $42 million. Would have made him the 4th-highest paid coach in the country. He's staying at Oklahoma State.

Anything that's bad news for Penn St is good to me!

ESPN: Herm Edwards will interview for Arizona State head-coaching job
If I had a kid who was up for a major football scholarship, I would want him to go with Edwards.

Imagine how butt-hurt Tennessee fans will be if Arizona St lures a former NFL coach away from ESPN after they couldn't. Not to mention UCLA already did the same thing.

Chad Morris has cancelled his interview with Tennessee that was set for today, and will stay at SMU, per Bruce Feldman. So that's 4 coaches who have turned down the Vols so far.
They're down to Tee Martin, Kevin Steele, Jeff Brohm, and Dave Doeren (unless I'm missing any other rumors). Surfing through Twitter, it looks like fans prefer Martin.

A local reporter close to the Vols says Brohm's announcement is imminent. I don't think Morris was up the list, so his cancellation may not mean anything.
Still, Tennessee fans feel jilted again. A lot of us wish they'd just patch things up with Lane Kiffin. He'd at least make life interesting.

Chris Low (ESPN) just tweeted that no deal is in place with Brohm, but they're talking.

Brett McMurphy reporting that Oregon has offered Willie Taggart a 1-year extension (through 2022). Trying to keep him away from FSU.

Details are a little fuzzy, but it sounds like in addition to the 1-year there is a higher AAV on the current years ($20 million total). Interesting that if he were to leave Oregon now he would owe USF additional buyout money.

Oregon would be in a real bad spot if he leaves now.

Oregon State hires Jonathan Smith.

From Clay Travis on Twitter:
I am told that UT AD John Currie made an offer to Jeff Brohm that Brohm accepted. Currie then asked the chancellor to approve the offer — buyout included — and chancellor said no. So Currie went back to Brohm with lesser offer and Brohm said no.
What a shitshow...

Oregon State hires Jonathan Smith.
There was some (crazy) talk that Dennis Erickson, who coached Smith when he was a QB at OSU, would take the HC job and groom Smith for a couple years. Not sure what title they could have given Smith that would allow him to leave Washington for essentially the same position at OSU. I guess that's why it was crazy talk.
Either way it seems like a decent hire for them, the local response is very positive, and sounds like Erickson isn't completely out of the equation for a role on the staff.
