Need more reason to dislike Crosby, here you go. FYI, this is kind of gross so watch at your own risk. This one comes a game after he speared a dude in the junk, neither play resulted in a penalty.

Oh you can't penalize the face of the league.
Man I wanna punch him in the face.

No NHL players in the next olympics I'm kind of surprised it came to this, but then again this is the NHL we are talking about here. Besides the obvious immediate bummer of no pros in next winter's olympics, we also have the added bonus of increased acrimony between the NHLPA and the league. If there is another lockout in a few years, don't be surprised if this is referenced as one of the issues that lead to it.

Im kind of torn on this. On one hand, I like the idea of it being an amateur competition. The 1980 Miracle team was just that. On the other hand...you want to see the best players in the world competing against each other. In that sense, you won't have that anymore.
The best of both worlds would be if they use AHL and ECHL players so that you can at least get a glimpse of the prospects. It was cool to watch Jonathan Schoop play for Netherlands in the WBC while he was still in the O's farm system.
But if it's college players with no ties to an NHL team, we don't know who they are and it quickly becomes not worth investing in. Except if USA is on.

No surprise I'm pulling for Nashville. Was hoping Ottawa would pull it out last night.

I've followed the Predators since going to a game their first season. I still can't believe they're in the Finals. They'll be underdogs, but they've been such for three straight series.
Go Preds!

Two years in a row AHL call ups win them a Cup.

What a hot take.
And btw, oven-baked chicken can be pretty delicious.

What Guentzel has done for them this playoffs is pretty unreal.
Two years in a row AHL call ups win them a Cup.
Doesn't help that the NHL East is like the NBA West. Once you get to the finals it's a step down from playing your way through the East. Once they get through the Caps it's a much easier road, and really Ottawa gave them everything they had too. That's why playoff re-seeding needs to happen. #1 and #2 in the second round is just stupid and should never happen. No other sport does that. I wouldn't even be sad if they got rid of the conference play, and just went top 16 with re-seeding each round.
