Towson was up 16 with five minutes left in the fourth (the Tigers' kicker missed two extra points...fail). UConn drove down and scored with a two-point conversion with 3:30 left. Towson ran the Woody Hayes special and punted with 3:00 or so left, but UConn fumbled the punt return and the Tigers recovered. Towson drove down and scored a TD on fourth-and-goal with 16 seconds to play to go up 33-18. And that was the final.
Towson beats a Division I-A school for the first time ever. Rob Ambrose beats the school he was the offensive coordinator for before coming to Towson (under Randy Edsall).
Go Tigers!!!

That is sweet. The ACC ought to be even happier that they chose Louisville over UConn to replace UM. Now the Terps just need to make sure the Huskies go 0-for-Maryland in two weeks.

Which is more embarrassing: UConn losing to Towson at home for their first D-IA win, or Maryland losing to UConn, who already lost to Towson at home for their first D-IA win?

Just saw that Towson is the #2 ranked FCS school currently. Good for them.

Rob Ambrose should have an FBS gig before too long.

I have a feeling that the way the school has been heading over the past few years, he may not have to move to get there.

If that's the case, they better move quickly if they feel that will keep him there.

Wouldn't Towson have to expand their stadium to get FBS status?

Sure. It was less a statement about Ambrose's future than about the increased emphasis the school is putting on revenue-generating athletics.
I can see a not-so-distant future where they expand Johnny U or make a deal for the use of M&T Bank for important games, and try to follow UMass in moving up a level. I think it would be a disastrous decision, but not unlikely.

As interesting as it would be to have another FBS team in-state, for a school that recently announced it was dropping sports and needed a state bailout to postpone doing so, they had better get their financial house in order before even thinking about taking on the additional costs of moving up.

Yeah, but the reason they wanted to drop those sports--the real reason, not the Title IX BS they hid behind--was because if their emphasis on football and men's basketball. That is where they want to put their money.

Tigers could not overcome another slow start, and lose their first game of the season, 45-35 to Villanova.
